I am looking into unlocking allied races but I don’ t know where to start. I thought I had to do the Legion questline and I am doing them but am beginning to doubt I am on the route to unlocking? So where do I start?
Hey Vaedra,
Don’t worry, for some of the allied races you’re already on the right path, but it entirely depends which allied race you wanted to unlock first as their unlock conditions span across two expansions and multiple patches.
Here is a one-in-all overview on wowhead, but feel free to reply here with the specific race you wanted to unlock (if you had one in mind), so we can point you in the right direction!
Either way, best of luck
Hi Kerrosh!
I am focusing on the Void Elves for now. I, after some hours I found Archmage Kadghar, but I got an entirely different quest from him. So, I am not sure if I am on the right path. Am doing quests in Suramar and have some achievements already for the Nightborne? I went to the Stormwind Embassy and it tells me there I need to earn the acievement: You are now prepared. The Archmage Kadghar did not give me the quest Uniting the Isles. So, I don’ t know where to start or if I am already on the right path.
Okay, that helps, and you’re definitely on the right track.
There is a problem with old content that it can sometimes be terribly confusing and convoluted in how it behaves, since multiple years worth of patches overlap. Bear with me as I try to figure this out.
You’re correct, “You are now prepared” is the achievement needed to unlock void elves, which needs completion of the Argus campaign, which in turn needs “Uniting the isles” from Khadgar just as you mentioned. I’m not entirely sure why he didn’t offer you the quest, since the Suramar questline should only start afterwards. Which quest did Khadgar offer you instead? “Khadgar’s Discovery”?
It could be (and I’m just shooting in the dark here) that you need to unlock the intial quest for each of the Legion zones before “Uniting the Isles” becomes available. You can do that by going to your class order hall and checking the scouting map. Do all of the starter quests there until you arrive at each of the zones and repeat for each zone. Again, not entirely sure if this will work, but it could be a blocker for “Uniting the Isles”.
I think the quest I got was “Into the fray”, but I am not sure. I went through some quests in Dreamwalk/Dreamgrove. If so I have done those. Done some reading on Wow Head and it also says I need to earn World Quests and Flighmasters whistle. I have earned that. But that is Shadowland I think. Confusing. I will continue to quest and see where it takes me. Thanks, Kerrosh
Right yeah, I see. So “Into the Fray” is the starting quest for the Aszuna zone, which leads me to believe I wasn’t entirely wrong in my statement before. I don’t think you need to quest through all of the zones anymore thankfully, as that would be a lot of questing (even though I found Legion quests to be quite fun). From what I can tell, you’re still missing the starting quests for Val’Sharah, Highmountain, and Stormheim. Try and do the first 2-3 quests in those zones (until you unlock the respective reputations) and then check in with Khadgar again
I hope this works out for you, I know it can be a bit of a pain to figure out old quest dependencies
I have done the first few quests and they just lead me to more quests. At this point, I see no other option than to do all the quests. Right now, Archmage Khadgar is sending me to exodar with the quest: Bringer of the Light quest, which has nothing to do with the questline to unlock the allied race. Not sure where to go from here.
Update: I saw the quest Unting the Isles on my quest list. You need to earn friendly with Suramar, Azsuna, High Mountain, Dreamweavers and Valarjar. So guess I am on the right track!
Oh perfect, if you have the quest Uniting the Isles then that’s the one you need to move forward, since once you have that you can unlock the Broken shore, which in turn unlocks the Argus questline needed for the void elf achievement.
I thought they would have removed the reputation requirement by now, but in order to reach friendly with the Legion reputations you need to do most (if not all) main quests in each zone.
I know it’s a bit of a slog, sorry if this turned out to be a bit of a longer thing than expected
At least I am on the right path. I love questing there and the storyline, so I don’t mind really. I am reading on wow, that doing the quests for Void, it also unlocks world quests and other sorts of rewards?
Glad to hear, Legion does indeed have some really great questlines
Unlocking the achievement for void elves will unlock pretty much all of Argus, including world quests, yes. You should then also be able to easily access to the Antorus raid, which has arguably one of the best tier sets in the game (in my humble opinion) in terms of looks.
Unlocking the race, just like with other allied races, gives you access to their race-specific mount, the Starcured Voidstrider, and leveling your first void elf to lvl 50 unlocks their respective heritage armor, both of which look really nice in my opinion.
So there’s plenty of goodies along the way
Best of luck, and I hope you enjoy the journey!
Thanks Kerrosh! Plenty to do indeed:)
