Unlocking allied races

I dont understand why we have to go through a very lengthy questline (if we didn’t play in BFA) personally I only leveled a horde to 120 and basically quit right after. This means if I want the alliance allied races I have to go through hours and hours of “pointless” questing which is very tedious. I realize they removed the reputation requirement which is great, but how about just changing it so we can pick up a quest from the embassy and unlock the allied race? I don’t mean giving it out after 10 minutes of play, but just like a 2 hour questline per allied race would be way easier, its really difficult finding out how to unlock it and at what place I am in the story on my alliance (level 50 now). It should be easier to figure out where I am to go and how to unlock it.

Completing the entire alliance questline followed by whatever achievment requirements there are is just not something I have the time for unfortunately, as I assume many others also doesn’t, was talking with a friend about switching to alliance, but I’d like to play a new race so it feels new (been playing on and off since 2005) but the confusion on how to unlock them is just too much, which is why it would be way easier if there was just 1 quest you can pick up to start the entire questline :frowning:

Yea I agree on this one, I wanted to unlock Nightborne but after seeing how stupidly long it takes I just gave up.

I spent way too much time on unlocking Zandalari, war campaign is extremely unnecessary annoyance by Blizzard, but at least they removed rep grinding.

I guess it’s just my opinion on the matter but you only have to do those questlines once, and for most races they have to do with learning their lore (lol at Dark Irons and Mag’har).

I could probably never see eye to eye on this matter with people who play RPGs but don’t care about the lore.

i have all unlocked except Kul tiran which im gonna do soon. It takes time but its easy to use wowhead and follow a questchain. Use two monitors if u can. And make a new character and use chromie time that makes it easier and u level meanwhile another character makes it more worth it. I did Ztroll quests recentely and leveled a Vulpera Hunter from 10-50 just doing the storyline.

I understand having some sort of relation to the lore, but they could cut that down severely without ruining the experience by just starting the questline at the embassy towards unlocking the given allied race. I need to do the entire BFA campaign just to begin the achievments towards unlocking them, that’s a bit excessive considering its an old expansions content.

Don’t even remind me of the Zandalari unlock and Nightborne unlock (the Zandalari one was worse)

And in the end Nightborne didn’t even look like the NPC’s it wasn’t worth it.

I’m glad they removed the rep at least, that was hell. I almost hated the Zandalari because of it

I don’t really see the problem with playing through the required content to get the allied race… it’s supposed to be an achievement, not a short quest.

After all , it is about learning the lore behind the race, like an introduction to them… if you find that “pointless”, then maybe World of Warcraft is the wrong game to be playing.

Something I have enjoyed doing over the past few years is going back and doing old content which I missed out on. That included unlocking the Nightbourne which was a HUGE questline and back then the Exalted Rep aswell.

I remember when Death Knights were introduced, you had to have a level 70 char before you could make one and that was the case for a long while after Wotlk (if I remember correctly).

Even I totally think you should always have to complete the same achievements/questlines/zones as already in the game. I wouldn’t be opposed to the quest giver in the Embassy pointing you in the right direction of where to start. I know they tell you what you need to do, but a quest pointing you in the right direction is far enough.

“Pointless” was bit of an overstatement, its just excessive for someone that wants to play new races from a previous expansion that they have to spend countless hours to unlock them. Just make it easier to figure out what you need, like the campaign quests in shadowlands had an icon of its own so you knew you were on the right path, maybe make something like that so I know I’m not wasting my time doing a quest I don’t even need, especially for someone that has to do the entire 3 islands of content (+ even more? i dont even know because its so confusing), thats not just 3 hours and you’re done, it’ll take me days to do that alone, and then I can’t play any of the other content in the meanwhile otherwise it’ll take me months to complete it.

wth get right back to doing the storyline, it’s hands down the best campaign in wow

I can understand it can seem frustrating trying to unlock races that are tied to certain expansions after they are no longer current.

At the time the actual race quest lines were fun to do although not everyone cares about doing them. But the unlock requirements even without the rep may seem a bit long winded if you just want to start a character.

They may change in the future but for now you just have to plough through.

I wouldn’t worry about it too much, they were pretty gimmicky, all of my toons are now race changed back to classic races with better racials, more customization too.

I wish Blizzard remove this “Allied” denomination and all the requirements to unlock them and simply call them “Races”, make them as normal as the rest.

Sorry but no. They already removed the rep grind, you have to invest a little bit of time in quests that relate TO the race in question to unlock them, I really don’t think that’s a big ask.

There’s an achievement for completing the storyline in BOTH factions. This rewards a mount.
The campaign story is pretty good (especially as you aren’t time / rep gated anymore).
The Drust story is pretty good also, and feeds into Ardenweald story.
It doesn’t take that long.
It is something to do in this content drought wjere there is little else to do.

they’re super easy and super fast to unlock now…
