Like seriously… apart from sharpen, not a single MS effect requires any forethought anymore, and way too many classes have gotten it over time.
Damage is already high enough, and dampening exists. MS serves no purpose other than make already OP classes even more busted, and at best makes the game just harder to balance.
Or at least remove it from everyone except arms warriors.
I don’t have a MS effect (yet) but I do think the healing reduction is too prevalent in today’s arenas. The pressure, the healing reduction + dampening makes it very difficult to enjoy being a healer in PvP.
Healing reduction is terrible in pvp tbh, it’s so hard to balance around. Also, it effects some specs like hybrids and throughput healers way more than those who rely on mobillity and damage reduction for survival.
Dampening is fine, but it should effect way more than just healing, to make the whole team feel the effects of it.
MS effect is a way to apply pressure without having to deal too much damage.
Take the example of the bottom 3 melle DPS:
Frost DK - Good Damage, no MS
Enhance - Good Damage, no MS + nerfed after doing too much damage
Ret Pala - Good Damage, no MS + nerfed after doing too much damage
Now take the example of the top 3 melle DPS:
AssaRogue - Good Damage, 24% MS + on use 35% MS
Havoc DH - Great damage, 25% MS
Arms War - Good Damage, 25% MS + on use 50% MS
Meanwhile, all other melle are around middle of the pack position, don’t have above 25% MS, do good damage and you rarely see any be mention anywhere as being op.
If this isn’t enough to convince, take the best example:
Fury Warrior:
Good when you can stack your 36% MS
Bad when you can’t
So, before considering doing anything at all to the average MS effect, lets first remove those above 25% or reduce them to the 25% value.
Not a lot but compared to many other MS effects currently in the game that are just passively applied… eh. It is a signature ability of warrior so I’d understand at least letting them have it.
But yeah… MS in this day and age is just completely unjustified and makes balancing much more difficult for no reason.
