I’m not talking about jittering around, I’m talking about hitting a bind 2-4 times to align it properly with the previous cast. That’s one of the ways your 60 APM turns into 200 keypresses.
Blizzard have added a variety of tools over the years to mitigate this issue and I’m trying to get more used to using them - most notably there’s the system where you can hold a button down to chain casts, including chaining an instant to a cast.
So for example Glacial → Flurry → Ice Lance can be done by:
F Release → Hold R → Press Q and release immediately, then hold Q.
It makes it harder to move - can result in twitching, but maybe it’s better… ?
I think sitting idle because you spent all your mana inefficiently earlier or you’re worried about a really long fight with lots of damage is a perfectly legitimate situation but those thoughts have to go through your head as you make that decision.
It shouldn’t be “oh my damage is worthless and healing is capped so now there’s nothing I even can do”
← Healer since 2006 at least. Been through a lot of transitions. Was a clicker until WotLK, where they introduced GCD reduction from haste, meaning clicking stopped being viable at the level of endgame I did(server first chase). Used addons, then mouseover macros after that. Agreeing that the combo of requirements for healers for many years now(added dps on top of healing and utility as requirements/necessary), is heavy, so I absolutely hope to see an improvement to usability by Blizzard here. Even though it doesn’t affect me RIGHT NOW. It might again in the future.
Are mythic raids truly difficult from the mid to the end of the season? I saw you said 14s are easy now(I agree with that), reply about raid but truthfully too then
You can read my last replies to Uda again, if you need further explaination. I do group content pretty much solely as healer - healer at heart. I am not a dps player. I am not doing group content right now, but doesn’t invalidate my experience with it over many years. I am not making comments about any spesific, current instance. It’s also not so that I won’t return in the future.
I get what you say. When i measure my own apm its also full of useless keystrokes. I average in the order of 300 apm per dungeon. Most of which are clicking 3/4 times in less than 1 second to cast 1 riptide.
However. Its a ME problem. Not a blizzard problem. And the game should not change because i am a nervous person.
Well IMO its a boring gameplay. I pay a game so that i can watch others do work for me.
Its demeaning. And un-rewarding.
As for burning mana, why not? Its far more rewarding than burst healing with CDs and its far more rewarding and less stressful.
Why would anyone consider it as “bad”?
Big D encounter: you got X seconds of mana to burn. You better make them last. Then you recover the mana during downtime with DPS or something. Repeat.
If you dont heal good. Your mana runs out before the big D event and people die.
Or… Do you prefer Ascendance. Pop that, become an unstopable God and for 8s you can heal. But when ascendance is over… You heal peanuts, and you dps peanuts, and you depend on DDs using a defensive to heal through that.
Mythic Raids and HC 25 ICC are pretty much the same to PUG. There’s little to no difference. Both in terms of lockout (once you have obtained a lockout, good luck finding a group) and difficulty. ICC25 HC was hard, if you had max 264 gear and zone buff. Groups were falling apart right after loot-ship boss.
Well this whole addon discussion is about the current raid: Undermine.
And how blizzard has reached a breaking point in its design, and so did players.
Basically, the only tool blizz has that addons cant trivialize are swirlies. That is why there are so many of them.
So many, that it hinders the experience of people. And that tricled down to M+ as well. So many swirlies everywhere.
In addition, M+ in specific, it has developed into a 1-shot meta. So: any mechanic they throw at us can be trivialized with addons. Their solution? Them players better execute that mechanic perfect. Or else, they get 1-shot.
And that is becoming annoying as well.
Therefore. To properly understand the addon problem, you need to play retail today.
Also. You are a healer at heart. In classic. Cool. Cause you don’t need any addons at all to heal in classic. Its a snoozefest where you simply spam “heal rank 2” over and over again…
So to talk about addons… First you need to have installed them and used them.
I mean… You dont need to main a healer. But you do need to play the game imo.
Retail and classic are so different from one another…its as if i tell you: i only play “command and conquer”. Never played wow in my life. So here is my PoV on Mythic Raiding…
No it’s a Blizzard problem. They built the game in a way that forced us to play like that for like 13 years.
Old habits die hard.
And it still isn’t perfect.
I just don’t think damage should be free. I like there being efficient but low damage and healing, and expensive but high damage and healing, and then CD’s for very very high healing, maybe damage depending on the spec.
And DPS should be the same. Some of them actually still are, but they all get this GCD filler spell anyway and tons and tons of cooldowns.
I really liked WotLK or Cata feral. You had like 5 CD’s and 3 of them were crowd control and a defensive in cat form and 10 abilities and yet they all saw use because of energy constraints and optimising damage for time, and some times you pressed nothing for a while because you wanted to pool energy for a big hit, and it was awesome.
WoW used to be like this. It worked great. I dunno why they got rid of it. I dunno why my spec has like 40 procs and 25 cooldowns now. I don’t really think it added anything other than making it really hard to get a complete view of options…
I don’t heal on classic, and I am well aware of the situation on retail today. That’s why I don’t have the mental energy to spend time on it. I do NOT do endgame in classic. I don’t even do dungeons. Endgame is a retail activity. Classic has nothing to do with this.
I have used multiple addons over the years, but I usually end up disableing the ones that the default UI can cover. You said it yourself, the game itself gives a lot of info, you just have to pay attention. It doesn’t cover everything, but if they can fix these issues that would be good(not saying I trust it). I also read the article with Ion, and I have no issues understanding what he is talking about. This has been going on for years, not just this patch. He is also pointing this out in the article. This affects me too, even though I am not active right now.
Just thought I would ask it here, because the “why do you care how others got their rewards” question and “there is no prestige, you play for yourself” statement has become so frequent in WoW, in these forums etc:
How would it affect your gameplay and your enjoyment of the game if you are having fun doing what you’re doing?
