Upcoming Changes to the Ashran, Isle of Conquest, and Wintergrasp Epic Battlegrounds

100% agree
I’m very confused as to why they removed Mass Poly but don’t even mention the knockback.

Very few joins PvP to deliberately lose.

Good changes overall. Thanks for that.

One thing I want to mention though: The changes are usually written in this way. “Ability X now deals Y damage (was Z).” Not doing the same with the mages is like trying to hide something, in particular how weak Rylai was made on purpose. I do appreciate the efforts of setting things right. I would prefer it if Blizz just would admit the mistakes of the past.

So Ashran favours horde now thanks to changes? They’ve made Alliance npc weaker is that so?

Rylai got a buff. At the first glance Jeron still looks stronger, but I might be wrong here because of the lack of information. The original post does not say anything about the cooldown of the abilities, if they do prioritize particular targets or not, if there’s a cap on the AOE…

Regardless. It would have been great if they would have shared the complete information on this though. Exact numbers of how it used to be (it was heavily imbalanced in favour of the reds) and how it is now.

Rylai Crestfall – Alliance Tower Mage

  • No longer casts Mass Polymorph.

If you are removing the mass polymorph from Rylai Crestfall then you really must look at Jeron Emberfalls Knockback from living bomb and remove that piece of mechanic. Ryali gave the opportunity to defend herself until alliance arrived. And since Jeron can blast people out of the tower with his knock back is going to remain overpowered for the horde. Unless you make the same knockback system for Ryali now that would be interesting balances both bosses out.

My personal feelings on PVP is that covenant powers and abilites should be disabled for PVP. It would probably make balancing the classes a lot easier. As it stands now there are some very overpowered spells that can hit for over 20k(crit).

he is way much stronger then alliance mage. Because he can knock all players down, and horde have time to heal him up while alliance are scattered or dead from fall damage.

Why exactly mass poly removed from alliance mage while Jaron still can knock everyone down?

You can line of sight the knockback, although sometimes it’s hard to do if Horde are there CCing

good news!
but can we actually get WoD Ashran back?

The knockback needs to go. Or Rylai needs one too. In the later case the knockback must be powerful enough to actually knock players off the Alliance tower, since it has more floor space.

I also wonder about the additional ablilities of Jeron that do not mirror Rylai’s abilities. Ignite, Livin Bomb initial spell, Magma blast. The damage depends on the CD’s and if there is an AOE cap or not, but they didn’t share this information.

the problem then is still that the alliance tower has more pillars to protect them flying off.
tried knocking of with bursting shot and explo trap and there are so many pillars often i hit them…

WG has more problems than that…

Vehicles cannot be slowed and vehicles drive faster than players can run. So if you attack a vehicle in melee it can just drive away and you cannot reach it ever again lol

Vehicles just do too much dmg to players. It is NOT FUN to get smacked in the face by several boulders from 80y distance just to instantly die.

I want to play pvp not pvv…
Capping / decapping workshops just take too long.

why siege vehicles take sooo much dmg from demo boulders?

It is stupid design that you have to kill vehicles with vehicles.

Generally vehicles should have different functions:
Catapult: anti player vehicle, fast, easy to destroy, no dmg on buildings
Demo: range siege vehicle, medium dmg to walls, low dmg to players, low dmg to siege engines
Siege Engines: high melee wall dmg, high melee player dmg, low range dmg, no dmg to vehicles. Strong defense against vehicles, weak against rocket and normal against player dmg.

like this the bg might actually be fun instead of getting face planted by boulders all day or grilled like a chicken from stupid catapults

I do wonder sometimes if they are balancing stuff based off broken stat metrics rather than actually playing their own game

exactly, it’s way too OP

Bump. Jeron still needs to get hit by the Nerf bat and have the living bomb removed if you are removing Rylai’s mass polymorph.

According to link below the knockback from Jeron’s living bomb will be removed.

That’s good, just got worried since in this topic they didn’t mention it but not it’s settled that the living bomb knockback will be removed i can be at peace.

I mean removing living bomb knockback is good but alliance mage has nothing against it.

Rylai has 3 abilities that do something, zugzug mage 6. I don’t know exactly how that will turn out, in live version time will tell but isn’t it just better to mirror abilities of bosses instead of doing such things.

Let them both do same damage, just with different names and animations instead of this clustered situation. Bosses must be balanced because if you are 1 second late to kill a boss, you gotta play 1 more for win of the day and that 1 second might be caused by unbalanced bosses.

Still this ain’t a complaint exactly, hopefully they are perfectly balanced, we have enough horde bias material at our disposal don’t need more.

at least to me, fragments seem quite hard to get in such short games. i mean its bad enough just getting 50 for the seasonal quest.

but…

&

15% a shot still seems high i guess, but at least they are only worth 30 points now.

i thought docks was the current tactic? at least for horde, 99% of our wins are docks and glaives and most losses are when allies have the docks.

yes. at least they finally admit it!

also YES!!! i have been saying this all of SL but people said i was talking rubbish. walls had too much hp.

good change, this should mean that a win will be 9 minutes shorter. often the last tower goes down with 15-20 minutes left. this will cut the wait time in half for a victory as a defender.

im not sure about this one :\ what if first battle is a stalemate for 5 mins. giving wholesale tanks to people then could tip the battle in a way it should not be tipped, esp now that attackers have the 4 outside bases at the start.
