Update from Ion in Shadowlands Beta General Discussion Forums

Must be so hard for you to admit you are wrong.

People really thought they’d “pull the ripcord” huh? Yeah just keep posting the hashtag and they’ll scrap the fundamental system of the expansion two months before release.

Bringing the Covenants close to one another would have been better without removing the system. Right now i already know what covenant i will choose because the other are not even remotely comparable in terms of performance. That i wanted that covenant anyway is my personal thing but i assume many will dislike it.

Also that ion is kinda blind on performance related issues is nothing new considering hes an average player at best.

But we will see. The tweaks are bound to happen regardless.

Because they dont think the same as you, doesnt mean they are white knights.

For example i dont like many things in WoW, like the new enha redesign, or the sockets removal from items. Instead i would like my legion enha shaman, and fix sockets on each gearslot.

But i like covenants, its kinda unique, and very cool.

The thing is, it all boils down to whether they can balance all covenant abilities. If that were the case, i would have no issue with their approach, but let’s be realistic.

Balancing all abilities, across all specs, for all content types? And that’s even without considering the history of Blizzards balancing.

I am 100% sure there will be at least one ability balanced after SL goes live. And at that point it’s already too late for the player who chose that covenant.

Funny, when he’s killed N’zoth 10 more times than you have.

At least, maybe they’ll understand that people don’t really enjoyed having their abilities locked behind “systems”, and they may be scrapping this concept altogether next expansion?

Cool story. Yet i have been in the Hall of Fame Alliance during EP and left my previous guild Lost and Abandoned after N’Zoth and rejoined my old Wotlk guild (as explained twice on the forums). Your point being what exactly? Ion is average.

Correct.

They did use to help for character boosts that you barely used less than an hour.
But not anymore.

They will make sure that you buy another boost just in case.
One time i used a boost from BfA preorder on a hunter i used for 10 minutes to try it out.
I didnt like how it plays so I asked for a refund.
I was given a big fat no by a GM.

At least we got the option to just trial and not get into that covenant mess  I am 100% considering it.

They are committed to their vision for the next expansion - again. I hope they will not fail to deliver - again. At this point only Live will tell.

Next weeks of tuning will be crucial since as it stands now there are too many situations where a Covenant is either massively OP or underwhelming.

True, people should focus their feedback on what abilities need changing etc, or just unsub if they feel it’s a deal breaking issue. The soonest they’ll “pull the ripcord” is 9.1 so pick your battles or leave the field and save yourself some money.

Besides, if the “pull the ripcord” crowd are as many as they think, unsubbing should have a way greater impact on making it happen for 9.1 than posting the hashtag every day.

On the contrary to some suggestions that they are not listening, they are working on the few things we feared most and are not very hyped about. Different question is how well they manage. but to claim they ‘ignore’ is just baseless at this stage.

Yes, the majority of players truly spoke when they threatened to remove flying. If that amount of people were complaining about covenants, they’d likely change it.

I kinda feel sorry for all the people upset about the covenants, whilst I merely pick what seems cool and skip along…

To be fair if they balance the performance of the covenants then im already satisfied.

Thats how it should be. Picking what is cool. One should feel “yo, this house represents me the most or i can at least identify the most with it”

Can’t please everyone. I don’t really care either way personally. For now it is what it is, we’ll see how it pans out.

Couldn’t resist sorry!

I’m so uninvested now I cba to care but it does stink.

Thing is that Covenants themselves wouldn’t be a problem on their own, but the way community chases metas is. I would… be… am ok with any of the Covenants, but if let say i would PUG and besides RIO X people would start asking me ability X for a skip or tactic, then we have the problem. And there is the fear of many players.

While I was in beta I managed to pick covenant wrong twice based on what i was told to do, and what i really found in Conduits and gameplay. So really people should pick things based on gameplay and I would get away even without having any Covenant, but in PUGs or Halls of fame I doubt it would fly very far - thus they have to balance it really well.

Admitted the change philosophy represented on blue post seems much better than what it was at start. So the feedback has achieved at least something.

I love to have theme based characters so that’s what it boils down to. You will never catch me playing a Fae Paladin! :face_vomiting:

Yeah in the end everything boils down to the fact that people suck. And others wonder why playing it solo or not pugging is so popular
