BIG TRUE. - Why let our characters rot? - Make the items go back to it’s original form, like Classic Era, and let us transfer off instead.
But letting our characters sit and rot forever? That’s just plain stupid.

I Really don’t understand why simply stop developing sod especialy since it seems to be very active well was because i saw a lot of people saying their goodbyes since this dropped you have so much things you can do from the unreleased emerald dream and outland stuff to even stuff from tbc or classic with sod i really don’t get why making it to eventually die like classic did after its second launch.
And one thing i should say is that you never had any limit storywise for sod that was a law you kind of forced yourself to i doubt anyone would not like to see difference in sod that could break the game lore wise if that was an issue shadowlands would have been taken out of the retail.
Okay, sure, but how about also using some of that dev time on progression servers? Cata got absolutely hung out to dry, and that’s a choice you guys made by spinning up new projects and ensuring you were stretched too thin to even fix fundamental game breaking bugs for the entire duration of a given raid being current content. No balance patches, absolute bare minimum effort when it came to protocol dungeons, no reaction to various issues that were hurting the gameplay and enjoyment of people such as the 2min+ prepull timers that were needed in order to compete. And that’s not even considering that there is plenty of cut content from other expansions than vanilla that would be really cool if we’d get to experience. The Abyssal Maw that was announced back in the day and then quietly cut. The speculated upon War of the Ancients raid. And if we ever get WoD, it’d be a tragedy not to go back and add in the Shattrath City raid. That’s what Classic progression should be, doing the best possible version of these old expansions, fixing the mistakes of the past and implementing what was missed.
One question. Can i get character boost on russian account?
Thank you so much for SoD, it’s been a blast. I appreciate that you have experimented and taken learnings from all the elements you have trialed in SoD. I look forward to what you guys do next!
I think my biggest criticism throughout SoD is the comms. Some comms were great, and some others were delivered through unofficial channels such as class discords and social media. It’s awesome that you guys wanna be involved in the community, and I don’t want to say you shouldn’t do that, but I think it would be better to ensure that any “reveals” of phase information or whatnot are communicated by a blue post in the first instance.
Thanks again, and see you in the next Season
Thanks alot for this season.
But Please dont let our Characters rot on SoD-Era servers until they get shut down. Id rather play them on MoP with the cool stuff (100% cosmetic) we were able to farm throughout SoD. Would be kind of a souvenir or almost ‘‘thank you’’ for playing it. Just like people from season of mastery had their characters in Wotlk (current Cata/MoP) classic. I mean why not.
I mean even on a ‘‘Seasonal Game’’ like diablo your Seasonal character becomes available to be played normally after the season has ended and i guess you could say MoP is the current normal game for most/all non-retail players.
Even tho it was always supposed to be Seasonal and everyone knew it will end. It would still be nice to have it atleast the SoM-way. No one wants his Characters stuck on SoD-Era if (and they will) most ppl stop playing SoD now.
Thank you for SoD it was fun, the most fun I had in wow for a very long time.
If SoD is ending I am also relieved that I can finally quit wow and move as I won’t be playing any form or Classic or Retail except for Classic + if it comes out when I have the motivation.
SoD had a lot of ups and downs but we did expect more as the SoD team stopped the community interaction after Phase 3 and after Phase 3 it just turned into standard WoW expansion, do a daily/weekly grind on something do the raid and done. You forgot the who the main character was “Azeroth”. The biggest example was on demand world buffs this killed people going out in the world and getting buffs or coordinating buff drops. Second the discovery aspect faded away after the last rest of runes, some runes were very annoying some were fun but they forced people to form groups. My last complaint is the loot boost and drought. There should be standard when it comes to loot. In MC we had ok loot as you got some additional with H2-3 but in AQ 40 and SE we were in a loot drought after getting a loot shower in Naxx H2-3-4.
Thank you for all of your efforts.
Yes, this is where recources should be put and Chris Metzen personally should look into making it best quality they can, because WoD was abandoned on his watch back in the days.
I had many great occasions playing this version of the game. The classes I’ve played have all felt great, no class is left out of a raid and each is worth taking.
That said - This is quite a slap in the face and a terrible way to end this experience. During the entire end-game of SOD there has been a severe content draught and bare minimum additions.
In Molten Core, you made us require fire resistance and added a 1 dimensional end boss.
In Blackwing Lair, you gave us some challenge modes - these were okay, but not exactly a high effort addition.
In AQ, you made ghosts follow us around and, that’s it?
In Naxxramas, which you’ve now told us was meant to be the last phase until people complained enough - you gave us a busted scaling buff and Kara… Your only planned content to add to SOD, was 2 dungeons?.. In 2 years?..
Then you gave us Scarlet, which is a good raid in all honesty. I think most of us are enjoying it.
After all that, adding 3 bits of “new content” in to the game and patting each other on the back is so odd. You’ve built something here many people subscribe especially for and you’re scrapping it? With no alternative?
Mists of Pandaria is a great expansion, but one that many people - especially from a raiding perspective, aren’t interested in playing again. You have a decently healthy gamemode that people want more of and you say “nah, play MoP till 2026”?
It just doesn’t make sense. I’m sorry but you’ve underdelivered so badly with SoD throughout it’s lifespan and then you call it a success that you’ve learnt from despite adding very little and now you expect that player base to move to Pandaria?
maybe make some new content for SoD to keep us engaged while we wait for those “bigger, better things” that you’re supposedly cooking?
I do just want to say that the classes are great, itemisation is great, the tier sets are amazing, there are good things to SOD but adding 1 new tier because you felt forced into it and then abandoning the project 6 weeks later telling us to jump to MoP with no other alternative is such a giant middle finger to the community who rooted for you the entire time.
Overall, I’d say Season of Discovery wasn’t that great of an experience. Sure, some things were well done — more loot, dual spec, new content, coin, catch-up gear… but the more I played, the more I felt asphyxiated by game-breaking bugs, poor PvP balance, and questionable dev decisions.
I’ve encountered dozens of bugs over months of playing — and they still haven’t been fixed. It’s clear that player experience just isn’t the priority it used to be.
Class balance was terrible — in both PvE and PvP — and everyone knows it.
The runes felt like lazy re-used content from other expansions. (hahahaha finger runes) You could already tell just by reading some of the tooltips that they were going to break PvP. But apparently, the devs didn’t care.
The Mage healer set bonus was bugged for weeks. Was it really that hard to test a simple 20% damage reduction bonus? If you’d spent even 10% of the time you spent on Paladin content actually fixing bugs and doing class balance, things could’ve been so much better.
Like, the HM version of AQ and Naxx, really ? It was beyond lazy
There were so many issues that could’ve been fixed easily. Take the Tyr’s Hand gate exploiters, for example — just put five Scarlet NPCs on top of the gates and the problem’s solved. Or the fact that players could remove HM buffs right before C’Thun to make the fight trivial and still walk away with the hard mode rewards. These aren’t complicated fixes. It just feels like no one cared enough to implement them. Pets pathing in the underwater part of karazhan…
Honestly, the best part of the game was probably just finding runes, i find it difficult to believe you “grew up as a team and learned a lot” since the content became more and more lazy until p8.
Killing SOD in such a brutal way, offering MOP boost / Scarlet enclave ICC buff is straight up disrespectful for the remaining players
Shame you chose to end it with unneeded nerfs. What a horrible way to go.
I dont wana be a Doom and gloomer because end of the day as an individual the company doesnt care (although I am sure I am not going to be the only one) but yea, SoD has been the only wow for me since it launched and the joke is i didnt even plan to play it lmao!
Originally i was on Wotlk and when we heard about SoD i thought i would use it as a Cata waiting room and then i barely touched Cata at all.
I get bored of Retail so fast, i always play first few weeks of expansions and its just meh, and I dont think i will be heading to MoP after the fun we have had with SoD.
With all that being said, I do understand the need for you to pull your focus away from SoD if you are actually creating Classic+, I just wish you had put in place entertainment for SoD first to carry us over until it was ready.
Heroic/Mythic dungeons or some form of ever scaling Dungeon difficulty would have been epic for me, I can just log in do some rough dungeons with a couple of friends. With this announcement already over night ive seen so many “i quit, been fun, cya” posts. I feel like the population of SoD will just fall off a cliff now.
just unsubbed on my 4 accounts (i like to summon my mains everywhere lmao!) il keep main account active til SE interest dies out but then i guess its GG til Classic+
Thanks for the efforts!
SOD was the only wow experience worth logging in for these days. I guess my sub will run out.
Such a shame that this is the end, i have not enjoyed playing WoW this much since i first started playing it back in 2005.
When my guild eventually collapses i very much doubt i will transition to MoP or any other iteration of WoW.
Please don’t abandon SOD. Wild Growth is such a vibrant server. It will be heartbreaking to see it decline gradually. We love this version of WoW and don’t want it to end.
SoD or Classic+
Hard pass on anything else.
Could you please give our characters any other option apart from just remaining on a dead realm?
I have put immense time and effort in my toon. I do not really have the opportunity nor the desire to do the Scarab Lord / Atiesh / Ashbringer / ZG mount grinds on Anniversary, and in Pandaria none of it is even available.
If the effort and progress I made in SoD does not carry over to TBC or at least Pandaria, which I assumed goes without saying when starting SoD, I am afraid that’ll be the end of playing WoW for me
So, you go and develop a version that’s actually somewhat fun, and then you don’t want to continue its development. Although, one has to admit, the balancing is a disaster. At least I can let my subscription expire now. Thanks for nothing.
you have to push them guys we have the power to keep sod alive none else. they want money we demand contect. sod is very uniq game and i really really enjoy it.mop or any other classic hardcore game is completely useless no sence what so ever to play or keep subscription up
why do you think i unsubbed nothing shows annoyance more than refusing to buy their product
I would rather go SoD Fresh, than MoP to be honest lmao
