Well, it’s obv the best time to slow down on SoD, right Aggrend?
Now that patch after patch retri and shockadin are both in fotm-lvl performance and you also have a lego for your favorite class that is way more overpowered than any other lego on its time in wow history (maybe rogue daggers get close? but still…)
Can anybody who reached 60 get a boost in mop?
I quit sod a while back and I dont have the time to do the raid.
Despite this i have other important achievements on my account more in the pvp area i would say.
you just need to kill the first boss in new raid, i already see people selling it for 10k gold in Cata lmao
If you are going to work in the other classic projects , it would be nice if we could get WoD+
That expansion had so much content cut . I for one would enjoy seeing the land where Gul dan came from , the ogre continent , The Shattrath and the Karabor raid .
It could be a nice fresh take on an unexplored part of the universe .
I really feel WoD could have been great , if it was not so thoroughly chopped .
Hell the whole story can be reworked from scratch .
I think the same honestly.
Even Garrisons, originally you were supposed to be given the choice of which zone you wanted your garrison in, and which race style.
Instead of poor Hordies being stuck with Orcish buildings in the middle of iceland.
You have my undivided attention, Aggrend.
Blizz don’t kill SOD, most of SOD players don’t want pandas (at least my guild).
We want more cool things, you got such a potential in there.
Look how many new players joined after naxx and SE, people want to play SOD.
Such a shame, wild growth allince was such a good server with the best community i have encountered in wow for over 20 years.
It will be so sad to see it die down
thank you. it was fun even tho it was rushed and why its rushed i dont understand. unless you announce a new seasonal really soon to rush again before blizzcon 2026. were you will/must announce classic+ cuz that is what players want now and you cant deny it. not announcing it then would be a mistake. i am sure players are not waiting to lvl up for a 4th time put blood sweat and tears into gearing to full bis for a 4th time. first in classic. and then SoM. now SoD i and many others are not waiting to do it a 4th time just for our chars to be stuck on a realm/game mode that gets no new content. its sad aswell that at phase 1 there was a interview that said that at the end of SoD that we would be able to bring our progress we made over to the future new classic game more and yet now its not the case. so please just work on classic+ already while MoPcassic is running and in 2026 blizzcon you can announce it cuz i doubt a lot of players will lvl up and go nuts to get full biss in a timespan of little over a year for a 4th time with then our chars being stuck once again on a era game mode. no ty for me 3 times was enough. next time i am willing to do it again is on classic+ that ensures we get new content for years to come. but that being said SoD was still fun but this is my feedback about it
Please talk to management. They cant just leave us hanging like this.
oh ok, nice.
ty blizzard.
i suppose you are not interested in keeping subs
Whatever happens you gonna have active sub. Dont ask me the reason cuz you know it already
Actually… They can. SEASON of Discovery was just that. Seasonal server. Not an eternally developed version. Never meant to be. Yes devs put more effort into it than SoM but it was still going to end eventually. With Naxx to SE transition where in some cases they needed to nerf T3 to the ground (Mages are the biggest example) it was clear they run out of space to develop higher power level within the confines of static level 60. All that’s left it is to hope it will eventually lead to a better version of Classic.
Not to say the devs did not make mistakes. Incursions took away from classic leveling spirit and Boosting that took off with Invasions killed the open world. Absolutely nothing being done with bots allow them to run rampant. To this day I believe I counted and reported up to 100 of those. 20 in just starting zones for Horde.
But still… I had fun. I probably still will for some time before the bandwagon abandons the servers.
SOD proved that there’s a strong interest in fresh experiences within the original classic WoW. The fact that you’re now “slowing down” shows that even when something is successful with the community if it doesn’t provide immediate financial return, it gets sidelined. It’s disappointing (but hey! not surprising) to see such a promising evolution shelved in favor of expansions that many of us feel are disconnected from what Classic really is.
Handing out a Pandaria boost doesn’t come close to making up for what feels like the quiet retirement of a mode that rekindled the joy of playing WoW for many. Classic stopped making sense to a lot of us after WotLK, and pushing paid services like boosts and coins only reinforces the idea that the soul of the game is being sold off bit by bit.
What many of us want isn’t “free stuff” it’s respect for what the community has proven time after time it values.
Let me end with something a professor once told me almost 18 years ago. I told him I wanted to learn programming because my dream was to make games at Blizzard because your games were universally loved, and I wanted to work on something that brought people exactly that. He told me that was a perfect goal, but that you don’t have to work at Blizzard to feel that way… even if you bake bread and everyone loves it, that feeling is just as powerful.
It’s painful to watch you are killing a game that, for many of us, was that “great success.”
Yes, 5 tiers (including AQ) within 1 level cap is the maximum, without major changes of gearing system
i’m honestly at a bit of a loss as to the logic behind the decision to end SOD and basically attempt to herd its playerbase into retail and MOP (where conveniently, the in-game store and wow tokens are running amok and just destroying what makes classic “classic”).
how out of touch are you guys to speculate that even a fraction of the SOD playerbase want to play pandaland?
like, wouldn’t it have made more sense to give the classic andies a TBC anniversary boost?
does blizzard not realize that a vast portion of their subscribers are in the mindset of “classic+ or bust”?
there’s obviously no way to actually prove that this is the case, but i’m getting that same gut feeling about SOD>MOP announcement as i got when they announced cata “classic” as if it was something anyone ever asked for.
its gonna flop harder than cataclysm bro.
literally DOA.
oh well, at least we’ll all be free of our collective shackles and have an extra 10-12 euro per month.
When wotlk was ongoing, I thought SoD release was rushed and as a result I could not completely enjoy wotlk (getting BiSed out/getting dbw). Wotlk population suddenly dropped the same day and hardly anybody raided since. SoD was fine alternative to wotlk. But at that moment… it was clear, that SoD “destroyed” wotlk (even though it was already almost time to end it- it could stay for a few more months) and it was clear that it is gona do the same to cata.
About the cata, I tried it for a few weeks but I realized the Cata was not IT.
Wotlk was the golden expansion and SoD was a great alternative.
MoP… please. It is gona flop 100%. Am I gona play it? Yes, hit max level do a dungeom and quit. 2 weeks tops.
Tbc is the “closest” to SoD and WoTlk.
I iust hope they do not change TBC and keep it no “class” changes.
As for the SoD ending…. Sad. It was great…ending it shows us they are not very “smart”…
Yeah I think so. Unless Blizzard actually learns to create some horizontal growth for the end game instead of Vertical (for the record During Naxx our Characters at Seal level 7 were doing damage that wouldn’t be out of place in Wrath or even Phase 1 Cataclysm) the power creep will end up hurting playability and ability for people to join in during later Phases. SoD Barely avoided it because ZG Enchants stayed relevant and for some classes 2.5 was still good filler for BiS (which kept AQ semi relevant) even that would run out. There’s only so much you can design in confines of specific level range. I can only assume theoretical Phase 9 Raid would put even heavier debuff on tanks which in turn would make anyone with that tier’s gear physical gods in older content. It was never going to last.
we did warn them about the powercreep.
since phase 1 people were screaming about it.
BFD gear is literally better than anything you’d get from dungeons until SM Cath/RFD.
it was still salvageable.
then Gnomeregan raid came and doubled down on the powercreep, to the point where basically any items outside of this raid was worthless garbage.
when Sunken Temple raid released there was a hint of a chance that they were dealing with the powercreep (because the loot sucked lol) but since phase 3 is universally and factually the worst phase in any version of wow ever, they got cold feet and upgraded the ST loot hoping to keep people playing.
then finally, we get to lvl 60 and this is where they had their final chance to halt the powercreep, but instead they just opened the floodgates and doubled/tripled down on it.
i’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “we are doing nax levels of dps and we are not even lvl 60 yet” before as well btw.
very common phrase throughout SOD.
like who are we kidding here
they did NOTHING to even attempt to stifle the powercreep.
in fact its pretty obvious that they embraced it like never before.
Sorry I kinda joined the fun during late Phase 4. I was a Cata player before on Mirage Raceway but the guild I was in focused more on SoD so I kinda got dragged in only reaching 60 at late 4/Early 5.
Frankly what cracks me a bit in SoD is that getting Era Server is suddenly fate worse than death while same-ish people keep clamouring for Era Servers for every expansion well maybe except for Cata.
I got disillusioned with SoD with the debacle that was the start of phase 3, but I really enjoyed the first 2 phases and when I eventually came back enjoyed the rest. The classic feel with the extra choices from runes was awesome, and finally being able to do something other than be a walking windfury as enhancement felt great.
Overall SoD was a great season/experiment with what can be done with classic, and I hope the next major project is as fun as this one was.
Also, is there any chance of there being “fresh” SoD servers with a quicker phase progression? kinda like the anniversary servers, I think that would be fun.
