I really don’t see the issue with this. It’s not uncommon for businesses to incentivise longer commitments with freebies.

If you sub for 6 months at a time then congrats, you’re being given a thank you for doing so. If you don’t sub for 6 months at a time, you can buy it if you really like it.

It’s literally a non-issue. If you don’t like it then don’t buy it.

Whats next boa gear

“mesmerizing appearance”

If this was a new mmo and that was shown as a playable character…

Sorry it’s just not up to scratch for WoW.

The issue is that it’s Acti-Blizz doing it, despite it being a pretty common thing nowadays for just about any game out there.

Yes but that clearly isn’t as much fun as a frenzied mob with pitchforks

I’d personally say that the fact that it’s common is the issue.

I’m on a sixth month sub that was due to renew this month but due to all the RAF bonuses my renewal was pushed back to June 2021. I’m presuming we are still eligible. It’s not instant for everyone either for some reason. Some subbers already have it. Others are still waiting.

Yep, I still don’t have it.

Agreed.
I’d rather have a discount to play this game that doesn’t have a pre-patch event date establish nor an official Shadowlands release date rather than this joke of a Transmog.

One thing I can say, even if I personally liked Ny’alotha sets but I admit they weren’t elaborate like this one, at least Blizzard will make detail sets for Castle Nathria…

Edit 1/3: typo.
Edit 2: let me add something.
As someone who’s owner of store mounts, I personally don’t have issues with the practice of selling things in a subscription base game… (mmh).

If find the transmog disgusting to say at best, not my cup of tea, personal preference; what I find questionable is the moment Blizzard choose to implement this promotion.

Like I said on my previously, at the moment there’s no official Shadowlands date, Blizzard is promoting pre-patch inviting players to subscribe in order to experience updates and, later, the ultimate Scourge invention but players just come here to find a Soon message, a game full of bugs and terrible scaling.
That’s my problem with this thing, not the transmog, not the store.

They could have launch this promotion a day before event.

You must be desperate person if you plan to do this lol.

I don’t disagree but at this point it’s just useless to even get upset about it anymore. Tbh Blizz isn’t even that bad when it comes to the stuff they sell on the store.

/spit works too, also works to people who ride store mounts

Seriously? How about you gift this to all those who preordered your delayed expansion rather than squeezing us for more money

Dunno about anyone else but since my sub was already paid off until like May next year, they sent me this transmog set as a gift.

We are paying a monthly subscription so that the game can be continuously updated. This means we want the game to be updated, not stuff thrown at us under the guise of being free while in reality we are paying for that instead of actual updates.

This issue is getting out of hand. The cash shop has and will always be a terrible business move and greatly increases the disgust the playerbase has for what Blizzard has become.

It started off with small things, often for charity cases, being sold to the playerbase. It went on to mounts that looked better (albeit in many cases absolutely absurd, but that’s personal taste) than in-game mounts. These mounts were in many cases given under the same guise of being free.

Now it’s transmog. Again, it looks far superior in terms of graphical design (and again, making you look like an absolute clown) than items currently in the game. Again, under the guise of being free. Meanwhile, Shadowlands, the update we’re actually paying for, is delayed for months. And god forbid we’d get something to do in game. No, instead the efforts of at least the team working on items goes into this abomination of a set rather than the ones obtainable through playing the game. Which is exactly what the monthly subscription we pay is actually paying for.

not really, you pay the monthly sub to access the servers

this is true, the faux outrage is getting out of hand

but its mostly due to people being misinformed and/or their inability to read

Think it’s more because of blizzdrones eating anything up that Blizzard releases.
It’s clear as broad daylight that they do this to show investors subscriber numbers and get a big fat paycheck. Even moreso with Shadowlands peeking around the corner.

I don’t think it’s due to misinformed. Some people can see this as a scheme, while others like you think it’s another quality masterpiece that Blizzard has released and if you don’t like it, you’re just a misinformed idiot or you’re unable to read.
Maybe you should draw a few lines yourself.

not really, the set is aweful

i think people are misinformed and/or cant read because they keep harping on about the set being behind a pay wall asif its absolutely essential they have this set while completely missing the point about the 6-month deal

not to mention that this isnt the first time theyve done a promotional deal or added a cosmetic item to the store anyway

From a technical point of view, sure. But when you think about it logically, we actually pay for access to servers by buying the expansions, just like any buy-to-play game. The subscription money should first and foremost go into updating the game continuously, something most non-subscription games don’t do as frequent. At least, shouldn’t, but with the amount of effort going into WoW (the actual game) these days non-sub games actually somehow manage to keep up despite not asking for a subscription.

It starts off with innocent little things being added to the shop. It keeps adding up. Now it’s transmog.

What’s next? Obviously, more transmog sets will follow. Some will again be sold under the guise of being ‘free’, when the game starts losing numbers due to updates being slow and/or bad, but when will it become even more absurd?

How long until the pay to win elements arrive? It’s already escalating. You have to be a naive idiot to think this isn’t where it’s headed.
