Updated patch notes for hunter! [16 Nov]

Here we go, buffs and nerfs!

  • HUNTER
    • Fixed an issue where Fortitude of the Bear’s healing effect could critically strike.
    • Hunter pet’s basic attack ability tooltips are now correctly adjusted by the Beast Master, Ferocity, and Training Expert talents.
    • Fixed an issue that was causing Rejuvenating Wind to heal for an incorrect amount.
    • Beast Mastery
      • Fixed an issue where Wailing Arrow would not properly interrupt the casting of an enemy who was channeling a spell.
    • Marksmanship
      • Rapid Fire damage increased by 20%.
      • Aimed Shot damage increased by 10%.
      • Kill Shot damage increased by 10%.
      • Fixed an issue where Wailing Arrow would not properly interrupt the casting of a creature who was channeling a spell.
      • The chance to gain bonus Wind Arrows from the Legacy of the Windrunners talent should more consistently match the listed talent values.
      • Fixed an issue where Trueshot granted from Windrunner’s Guidance didn’t properly activate the Focus cost reduction from the Eagletalon’s True Focus talent.
      • Fixed an issue where only the first periodic event of Volley could activate the Salvo talent.
      • Fixed an issue where Volley stopped dealing damage if the Hunter died before its duration was over.
    • Survival
      • Deadly Duo has been redesigned – While Spearhead is active, Mongoose Bite increases the damage of your next Kill Command by 40% and the reset chance of your next Kill Command by 25%, stacking up to 3 times. Kill Command cooldown resets extend the duration of Spearhead by 1.5 seconds.
      • Fixed an issue with Wildfire Bomb and the Wildfire Infusion variants not always properly transferring threat from damage dealt while Misdirection is active.
      • Fixed an issue that was causing Coordinated Assault to sometimes not activate the Hunter Pet portion of the attack if the pet was out of range.
      • Fixed an issue with Misdirection’s cooldown not getting reduced when Wildfire Bomb dealt damage.

and in the PVP section:

  • HUNTER
    • Kill Command no longer deals 15% reduced damage in PvP combat.
    • Marksmanship
      • Aimed Shot no longer deals 15% increased damage in PvP combat.
      • Rapid Fire no longer deals 10% increased damage in PvP combat.

So, basically, for MM PVP the net change would be:

  • Aimed shot deals 5% less damage
  • Rapid fire deals 10% more damage
  • Kill shot deals 10% more damage

I’ll take it!

Bonus points - they fixed the salvo bug. So now you can put Volley on the ground and run, and when 2 melees go after you and run into Volley, they both get Explosive Shot, even if Volley didn’t hit them directly the moment you fired it.

Overall a good change IMO, although I’d like for Aimed shot to be more impactful given the cast time.

Is this respectable damage?

Only vs 2 melees or pet classes. When you use volley with salvo, it embeds 2 explosive shots and if the targets are still next to each other in 4 sec, both explode and damage both targets.

I always use this in solo vs unholy dk or double melees.

This! Aim shot should be more powerful.

and its still meh, not as bad as it was but still miles behind bm

Kill command feels the same they just changed the tooltip.
Tooltip info from 6.4 k to 10.2 k but in arena the dmg is the same as before about 3-4 k depending the target.

Update from 5 mins ago, active on beta, and active on live servers next reset:

Hunter

  • Marksmanship
    • All damage dealt increased by 10%.
  • Survival
    • All damage dealt increased by 5%.

Nice. Honestly I have faith this expansion as there are no convoluted systems the response to classes right now and tuning seems to be going well mostly imho considering how many specs there are, though with how fun a warlock is in demo and affli now..defo still having one on the side!!

hopefully MM will be a bit more competetive now

I’d like to see them rip up marksmen and re do it I hate rapid fire and the way that mm is seemingly built around it to an extent.

I think making an archer class should be easy, but I think they need to make it from the ground up and make the lone wolf backed in as a passive that you can switch in and out of if you wish I don’t think it should be in the talent tree

After next reset Rapid fire will be at the power levels of Shadowlands in PVP:

Shadowlands:

  • +10% dmg (bonus in PVP only)
    • 20% dmg (set bonus 2p) after you spend 40 focus

Dragonflight:

  • PVP bonus removed
    • 20% dmg (from last week’s buffs)
    • 10% dmg (buff next reset)

So overall RF will be as powerful as last season.

Aimed Shot:

Shadowlands

    • 15% dmg in PVP
    • 20% dmg from 4set bonus

Dragonflight:

  • PVP bonus removed
  • 15% less (nerf 1 week ago)
  • +10% (buff this week)
  • +10% (buff next reset)

Overall, aimed shot will be far less strong, compared to before.

IMO Aimed shot should be the stronger spell of the two.

These reasons are not why MM damage feels weaker in DF tho.

Titer set was nerfed by 33% in PvP anyway, but nevertheless, the biggest hit to MM is the loss of modifiers from Kyrian Arrow (40% crit cance+hefty mastery buff) and Chakram no longer gives free explosive shot.

Double Tap with RF was our to go burst before they buffed Aimed Shot enough that made it worthy to DT it during Careful Aim windows.

However, in the grand scheme of things, MM is not alone in this. Damage feels overall less bursty and volatile in DF thanks to the stamina buff, but since they nerfed healing as well, the importance of cc chains has risen.

Of the bat, the biggest burst MM can pull off in DF would be Chakram into Double Tap on Rapid Fire combined with the instant proc AiS + Deathblow proc Kill shot. Kill Shot is our biggest single hitter in DF, Deathblow proc crits up to 100k.
