It’s been years with the same issue. 1-2 hours of waiting for a 136 MB update… Do better and fix this crap!

Yep, it is a joke. Mine is going 2kb/s. Ideally, to post such an update at that time…
500kB per minute… at unchanged speed, the 136 MB will take about 6 hours.

Same stuff here… 200 MBs connection and Im downloading with 100 kbs… super annoying I literally have like 1-2 hours playtime at night and I’ve been stuck downloading the freaking patch for the last 30 mins!
Any solutions to this problem? I’m on Ethernet and 955MBs connection, no download limits (tried setting 99999999 on both latest updates and pre-release content and it did not help). Download fluctuates between 14 - 30 kb/s
This issue on the end of Battle net download servers, not on the client side I think, so we cant act to fix it 
Temporary fix stop update turn off BN go to folder " \World of Warcraft_retail_ "

Doesn’t work when it already started updating. Tried that myself. A friend did as well. Once the update has started, using wow.exe to start only displays an error message.
My download just finished, but healer in our group just logged and has the same problem. Will probably have to cancel our M+ runs this evening.
Pausing download, waiting few sec and starting it again helped. Boosted download speed to 3mbs and finished almost instantly for me

I have no technical explanation how or why but here it is: I have dual-band tp link router, and switching between 5ghz and 2.4 ghz appears to fix the problem (atleast for me) for a few seconds and i was able to download the recent patch fast.

Took me around a full hour to get past the initializing part. This is very frustrating as this by far not an one-off issue and has happened several times previous too aligning perfectly with planned raid or m+ runs…

Blizzard please, give us a free day of world of warcraft subsciption to compensate. ^^

This is just unacceptable. Didn’t have any problem since original Vanilla regarding this matter. 1-2 months ago this s* *t began happening, and it’s been like this since then.
Every day I dread there’s any patch on any of the clients, because this initializing part is gonna take at least a freaking hour of my time for just 22 damned MB. And if there’s anything else to download, that’s at least another hour. Amazing job Blizzard.
600 MB connection btw, ssd with more than enough free space (obviously), less than a year high end hardware, but it doesn’t even matter because you are unable to make an updater work properly.
This is terrible… it is really frustrating to come home to see ANOTHER patch of 300MB with 30kbps download rate.
Having limited hours to play makes me consider to pay 13€ monthly for this.
