I think this matter as been discussed already, but I was checking mail gear for potential transmogs and I found out a lot of interesting stuff from vanilla and TBC, but mainly vanilla stuff is what got my attention.
Plenty of armor pieces that look like plate, and even other kind of looks, with potential for some interesting and different transmogs, but such pieces end up being rarely or never used due to the low quality they have.
I’m mentioning mail, but I bet the same is true for cloth, leather and plate, not to mention the weapons, so many cool but low res weapons from back then.
Would you guys like all that gear to be updated to today’s quality?
P.S. I even found a warmonger mail set which is basicly an attempt at samurai armor, at least the chest is without a doubt a “Do” (samurai armor chest piece).
Edit: And from the looks of it, for the most part all they need is simply a texture update, I don’t think the models would need to be touched, with a few exceptions.

have you ever heard of TRANSMOG ?
nobody cares about their low quality (and some of them looks great). all people care about is stats. and first expansion has stats for first expansion. SL is the 8th.

i re-read it. if you meant only the looks, it should never be changed.
some players who dont know how to transmog, believe its all about the quality and texture. its not. its about the theme. shiny doesnt make good, complete them makes good.

And no, I’m not saying they have to be shiny…
They simply have low res textures.
What I am talking about it’s not changing how they look, but updating the textures to have higher resolution, so that those pieces don’t look so out of place.
It’s not about knowing or not knowing how to transmog, if I am next to you with a full set of BfA gear and you are with a full set of vanilla gear you can clearly see how low the quality is on vanilla gear.

im using vanilla gear for my transmog sets.
as i said, its all about the theme. its on you to make it look like a set by using ANY item in the game.

Actually I would like to see what Blizzard could do with some of the old items.
Quel’serrar is one of my favourite items, but compared to modern weapons it kind of looks like a cardboard cutout. I went out of my way to collect almost every platekini in the game, they all look like they’ve been painted on to my character.
He’s asking for updated models/textures on old pieces, not updated stats and not creating new pieces to make up for the incomplete sets.

Now imagine that done with all the gear from vanilla and TBC, how awesome it would be.

Well I do agree. I’d love a graphical update on the classic gear.
While they’re at it I wouldn’t mind if they updated the list of sets under the transmog tab. There are so many sets but they’re not considered “sets”. So annoying!

no, he is asking to change old gear from their original look.
it doesnt matter. the old items still usable in the right situation. changing them will ruin it for many players who like them as is.
I agree, and I wanted to add: I really loved the updated model of Maladath / Ravencrest’s Legacy (used by Kur’thalos Ravencrest, seen in some Legion quests) and Gorehowl, but they are NPC-only, it’s kinda disappointing.

Yeah, they could just add higher texture models for Vanilla and TBC gear, but seperate as sets. So it’s good to keep them both, same for some old mounts like Swift Zulian Tiger.
In fact: they added updated Qiraji mounts as seperate mounts, and rewarded them to people who have the original mounts.

They already did with some, look at Frostwolf Howler and Frostwolf Snarler, plus the skeleton horses, etc.

I know, I understood, was just pointing out that at least they already started with some, maybe we will see more in the future. Although, due to the rarity status of the Swift Zulian Tiger I doubt they’ll update him, unless they do with that one something similar to what they did with Black Qiraji Battle Tank.
