My girlfriend just queued me for an arena in the 49 bracket, here is a screenshot of the item level it gives, you can use my armoury link to see my actual gear

Here is a screenshot my WoWhead search of mail helmets available to lvl 48 people to use and their item level. As you can see, they are all higher level than the template I was given:

As you can see, you can get better gear than what the template gives. Also level sync players can’t user their PVP trinket/bandages/any other item which puts them at a disadvantage. I would 100% rather do lvl60 PVP than level sync with this character. Not having a PVP trinket is a nightmare and so is not being able to bandage, glider, use potions, no enchants, or engineering items.
You can equip the heirloom trinket and use that. Unless that’s changed recently. You can still benefit from feasts laid down by other players too. And in the lower brackets its a fairly small percentage of players that’d roll out a glider (or food) anyway.
Nobody’s questioning the ilvl squish. But imo, there’s definitely something else going on, whether it be base stats are better than your average tom dick and harry, or just a bad template.
So I just came out of a BG at the 40 bracket.
Armoried the warrior.
He’s full 226.
The DK is 58.
The alliance DK is 50 but full mythic BfA geared.
And their warrior is just about to ding 50.
Their paladin is 60 in baby blue pvp gear.
Also take into consideration we did not have a healer, the alliance had two.
Us in heirlooms and actual levelling gear are middle of the scoreboard, aside from the Alliance warrior.
Being ready to ding onto the next bracket seems to make a difference. Maybe scaling up people to their end of the bracket would be a good change.
Heirloom trinket doesn’t work anymore. You can literally see what stats I have on the screenshot I shared with you. Also the stats on the armour I have shared has the same stat amounts of anything else that item level. What you posted is just a screenshot of someone doing more damage than you… that doesn’t mean anything. They are probably just better players than you or are just padding the damage meters… it stands to reason that someone who brings their main to any level bg is going to perform better than someone on an alt they know little about… if I was to jump into a BG on a new class I know little about such as a warlock, I probably won’t do too well either…
I was waiting on that kind of reply, lol. In the BG after where there was no dmg scalers, the top of the meters was around 99k at max.
I could show you many and it wouldn’t change your mind. Just like you showing me stat pieces and scaling doesn’t change mine. It doesn’t work. I believe there is a distinct advantage at being a max level player in a BG aside from experience, you do not. We can agree on disagreeing.
Twinks now also use it to get into queues they shouldn’t be allowed in too.
