Greetings, I wanted to ask for clarification of the use of USB splitters (aka one keyboard input split into 4 machines). Are they allowed? Or does such thing fall under the “any code and/or software, not expressly authorized by Blizzard, that allows the automated control of a Game” rule?
PS. I do not use any splitters, asking because I am not sure should I report such behaviour.
I’d say that this would be allowed.
Sending the signal to more than one device can be done logically/mechanically, I think. So then it doesn’t fall in any way in the code/software ruling.
But yea, you’re not going to find a definitive answer apart from perhaps people who actually use it without issues (although even that is no guarantee).
I’m hoping that someone from customer support will answer, they surely know
They may know, but prob won’t give you a definitive answer either
I’m afraid they never answer questions like that.
Personally I feel if it’s something you have to ask about, it’s probably not a good idea.
FWIW, there was a thread over on reddit a month or so ago, where someone got banned for using hardware-based input broadcasting (essentially, an USB splitter). While doing so does not violate the word of the policy, it certainly does violate its spirit.
If you suspect someone using these, report them. Worst case, Blizzard won’t lift a finger.
Do they say you can use hardware cloning devices? No? Well there’s your answer.
This. I would report them to hacks@blizzard.com so you can give full details. From what Ancelyn says, it sounds as though it could be bannable.
Thank you all a lot, will see what can I do.
That ‘expressly authorized’ part still refers to code and/or software, not to hardware. You can’t really make a conclusion like that based on this line.
Wonders why this was moved from CS, specially when already had an answer.
well blizzard cant tell different betvine software and usb slitter or wifi keyboard controlling multi computers without getting accses ur computer and look what pograms ur running .
It’s fine because it’s not relaying it to 4 pcs with one press.
I assume there will be a switch to pick input 1-4, if not then it probably would be wrong. Do you have a link to the splitter?
…but that’s exactly what OP described, relaying input to 4 PCs.
Warden already looks at what programs are running.
warden is API pogram if i remeber right …
The rule is one piece of input per WoW client. Obviously having 4 WoW clients on 4 computers does not change this rule.
That said, it’s definitely harder for Blizzard to detect it.
Warden is an anti-cheat software, which - among other things - looks at what programs are running, and sends the info to Blizzard to match against known cheats. It runs while you’re playing any Blizzard game.
See for example here: https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Warden_(software)
. There are plenty of articles on the internet that go into more detail how it works, and so on.
u buy 5 laptops thats like 2500 euros the u buy prepay internet 5 of them thats like 100 euros then u buy wifi keyboard to controll all 5 laptops ther u have a 2700 euros mutibox setup now u need only 5 copyes of wow
Why is everyone even taking the op serious??? Who on earth hooks up 4 pcs to play wow?
Hes clearly a multiboxer trying to worm out an excuse. Are people really this naive???
Some people have that amount of money to waste.
Maybe they got it from selling gold from their multiboxing.
