Those 3 talents are bad or useless:
Idol of Yogg-Saron / Idol of N’Zoth / Idol of Y’Shaarj
They really need to get buff (Idol of Yogg-Saron / Idol of N’Zoth) they do less than 2% on a long run , Idol of Y’Shaarj you do less dps if u take that one.
Fell really bad when top points you can get do nothing.
These numbers are coming from #1 shadow on first boss mythic
Yogg is almost doing 6.18% of total damage which is pretty huge and is actually more than the one you didn’t mention C’thun which is only 4.38%
With N’zoth you need to remember it generates a good bit of insanity as well for more DP’s, as for damage, it’s 4.16% only slightly behind C’thun. And there seems to currently be a bug with it, as I’ve seen it hit for as little as 46 damage
Y’shaarj actually makes the rotation considerably faster, but I do agree that the drawback is probably a bit too big, and it wont work in archon at all, as the haste is too precious
With the way shadow is currently designed, either hero talents got 1 big ability, 1 medium and the rest is small, and the fact that the 3 damaging idols is number 5, 7 and 9 is actually pretty good considering how many small sources of damage we have competing for 4th and down
Once you got the right gear, they will start to increase in value for you
Idol of N’zoth cleaves with psychic link and generates insanity. Looking at the % in the breakdown isn’t helpful at all.
I will check but i think those talent must be boosted in some way, in every other class the top talent has a huge role to play. I hope for a patch on that shadow priest is still bad good luck finding a M+ 10 key with a shadow priest in it.

Still after many M+ and Raid those talents sucks really hard… i mean they doesn’t do damage, you play that to do damage. I think priest should have stayed a 2 spec class. Void is useless. Evry other class do better dps with lesser ilvl and without even trying.
Again shadow is built to have 1 strong ability 2 if we count PL, 1-2 medium abilities and lot’s of small ones. And when it comes to stats we’re extremely stat dependant, so not having the right weights, then damage will be bad.
Plus Shadowcrash is extremely bugged atm. The rare times it works as intended we can easily keep up. And while at the topic of shadowcrash, they need to give it smart targeting so that it always dot’s elites, and probably reduce CD by another 3-5 secs, so that we can keep up in the giant pulls being made now a days
Looking at your one raid log you appear to just not know how to play shadow priest.
Yogg is 6% of my overall on single target. Nzoth is 4% + a bunch of insanity…
How strong should a single talent point be?
These talents are actually useful.

What situation are you think where these talents are bad ? M+ Raid or maybe World content ?
Y’Shaarj is kinda strange actually … I don’t like it either.
Maybe it’s dps mentality less than 5% is low for a top talent… Evry other spec do more, shadow priest was always bad in raid and donjon, the lower dps.

- Intellect;
- Mastery; (20% - 22%)
- Haste; (18% - 22%)
- Critical Strike; (19% - 26%)
- Versatility; (3% - 9%)
My stats:
Mastery; 13%
Haste; 20%
Critical Strike; 27%
Versatility; 12%
And still low gear hunter do more dps than me without the set bonus.
I have try many build, the spec just suck. Pvp is a bit better than Pve. 1600 3v3

I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say. 5-6% per a capstone talent point is pretty standard.
This is far from recommended. Again all the data available shows you’re just not playing the spec very well.
Shadow Priest has several issues yeah, but the class is not as weak as you describe… ![]()
Where did you get these recommended stat priorities from because thats not what you looking for…
We have no area crowd control except Fear, which is unreliable because it ends up pulling extra mobs. We’re weaker than mages and generate more aggro, and the only real utility is Mass Dispel—which feels almost useless.
I just ran a +10 dungeon and was top DPS, but I’m a bit overgeared. I adjusted my stats to the recommended values, which helped slightly, but my damage is still low. To hit respectable numbers, I have to stand completely still. Even with around 13% movement speed, the spec offers no mobility talents beyond using a shield or Feather.
Maybe they should add something like the Void Elf racial as a talent, and a Distant Fear ability would be fantastic. Back in the day, I used to joke that they should drop the Shadow spec entirely and introduce a Holy DPS specialization instead.
Idk you have so many instant casts and so many resources you kinda only have to find enough gcds to stand still to press MFI, which isn’t that hard. Move on every Void Bolt and Devouring Plague.
They rolled out a massive rework but barely touched Shadow. Death Knights now have the strongest self-healing and solid DPS, while we’re still stuck as the healer spec… and our self-healing falls apart whenever we switch to DPS.
It’s nearly impossible to find a group as Shadow—most players won’t pick a spec that brings virtually nothing to the table.
Pro players don’t play Shadow; most people try it once and then flee in fear
Shadow was literally brought over healing priest for the entire RWF and is seeing play on literally every boss at a top 100 level across pretty much all guilds.
I’ve been getting into and doing keys fine. Maybe the larger issue for you is that you have no M+ experience as shadow and think your healing experience should carry over.
they could start with buffing mindbender to deal more damage and stay up longer the dots of shadow priest is a joke at the moment if you compare towards shadowlands.
