This character used the gift in July,only got round to levelling him in last few weeks through and no quest popped up for him.

This character is also busted.
From my understanding, level 50 should be sufficient to get the heritage armor (it has been for all of my other characters)
I used the welcome back and see no quest or breadcrumb available.
logged in a few seconds ago to find the quest waiting for me.

Asking for my guild members … but is this something that has to be fixed on a character by character basis, or if they hang fire, will it eventually get rolled out to everyone regardless?

This character is indeed not 50, and would need to level up to be eligible for the quest.
The bug, and all affected characters, should have been fixed already.
If you believe that you are still affected, please do reply with the name/realm of your character.
I am starting to level up the Zandalari Troll
I’ll come back here when he reach level 50 to report on what happens.
In the mean time I opened a ticket (using the in-game menu) for my Priest.

Still no quest here… Honestly this is so stupid.
I’m curious what will happen to my other allied races too.
Most of them are under lvl50 but I used the welcome back on every character that was eligible the same day.
Am I going to have to come post each time?
Since my Lightforged got bugged, I assume all of them are bugged.

Thank you for posting so far. Our developers are looking into running another fix soon for everyone (which won’t require you to post your character name/realm).

Hello, I reached level 50 on my Zandalari Troll Hunter today and the same thing happened 
I opened up a ticket in-game.
It got fixed on my priest so I’ll wait and see.
I’ll check back when it’s done
