Uther and possible Retcons?

The new short was amazing, i quite enjoyed it though it sparks a few questions.

Forgive me if i am wrong, but how can Uther be in the Shadowlands if he was also in Frostmourne? The events that transpire in the animated short are before the Lich King (Arthas) fell during which time Frostmourne had not yet been shattered by Tirion. Not to mention the myriad of times Uther is seen around his Tomb in the Plaguelands. I find this a little confusing.

My theory is that Uther’s Soul was shattered into multiple parts.

One part went with the light which is the part we see occasionally around the tomb (this would make sense as he specifically asked the light to save his soul, which has been done before with Tirion Fordring.)

Another part went to the Shadowlands, probably the part that was rich with Anima, which would also make sense as Anima is made out to be a collection of all of your feats, accomplishments and memories. This could explain why Uther’s Soul is ‘wounded’ and also why he is so resentful and vengeful, this part of his soul is pure emotion.

Edit: Missed a small detail in the short, split confirmed!

Or Light is as manipulative as it always was, not saving anyone or anything, and the Uther we see in Paladin’s Artifact questline is illusion made by light.

Could be possible i suppose.

Was shown in the video. So it’s not your theory :joy:

It was shown how his soul was split in the cinematic:

Little details that go unnoticed but are big.

You see his soul split into two when he is stabbed.

That’s why his soul is wounded and he still has a stab wound on his “soul” in the Shadowlands, because his Soul is wounded / missing a piece.

It’s my favorite scene from the whole animation.

You are right, i missed that small detail!

I saw him get sucked into Frostmourne but i missed the light half that got whisked away.

It’s not the first time that very little details hold important information on cinematics, but most people miss them.

If it was entirely consumed by Frostmourne he wouldn’t go to Bastion. I used to think Frostmourne consumed the entirely of the souls of it’s victims, but it seems it just shatters them.

Interesting, maybe it was an exception in this case then as it seems the light intervened.

I liked that part a lot, it put a lot of emotion in a event i always had a weak spot for.

Possibly, i found strange how the part that went to bastion had a yellow, Lightlike color to it. Or maybe the artists thought it was the most appropriate color to differ the two parts of the soul.

I’m also thinking about the possibility of two Uthers being around the Shadowlands, because even after Frostmourne was shattered and the souls within were released, Uther was skill vengeful towards Arthas even though the more benevolent and forgiven Uther which was trapped in the sword for all this time was already free, almost as if it didn’t found it’s way to the vengeful Bastion Uther.

That’s not how paladins procreate
But seriously I don’t mind two Uthers

The Light seems like less and less of a good force each expansion.

Where was the light when Arthas killed Uther ?

Where was the light when Tyrion was killed by Gul’dan ?

Finally:

Velen: “We follow the path of the light, no matter where it leads.”

Illidan: " Your faith has always been your weakness".

Imagine what will happen when Anduin disappears and Turalyon becomes his temporary substitute.
Not something good.
Remember when the peaceful Thrall left Garrosh in charge of the Horde during Cataclysm ?

Cheers.

Turalyon the Light fanatic who’s married to a Void Elf.
They’re building up to something I’m sure.

The evil Light expansion is starting to look more and more real. Add in the mix Calia (who’s story is fishy, to say the least).

Horde leader = evil.
WoW 101.

his soul was split two with one going to bastion and one being stuck inside the blade i’m guessing we have to reforge uther later on

Frostmourne probably does consume souls. The light probably tried one last act and saved a bit of his soul.
