Vanilla Damage Numbers

For the love of (insert fictional god here) can we please have the old damage numbers back? Those popping numbers are like some sort of silly addiction.

Been searching the internet for a few hours but I can’t find anything so I’m here in the hopes of finding some golden tips. :frowning:

You do need to tweak it a little bit but there’s an addon called ClassicNumbers. Similar feel to what you want. I use it at the moment, and makes critting feel satisfying.

Use ClassicNumbers like Flower said.

If you want to have the old number values back as well, you can use this:

I wrote it. You just put it into your addons folder. It doesn’t work with the built in damage text so you need ClassicNumbers and SCT or NameplateSCT or something similar, but it does work with any non-default unit frames (because Blizzard calls a protected function on the target-of-target frame), damage meters, death breakdowns, etc.

Of course you won’t need it come Shadowlands, but it’s fun for the next few days :slight_smile:

Awesome thank you! I noticed this addon, but saw it’s quite new and some comments didn’t make me feel like it’s perfect. But I’ll try it out, thank you :slight_smile:

@Ishayou
I’ll try out that addon you guys mentioned first, do you maybe have a printscreen or a gif on how that looks with your own written addon? How so it won’t work after shadowlands? some feature coming I’m not aware off? :open_mouth:

There’s an addon but it’s a mere shadow of the real deal

Oke this actually works quite alright! Any chance I can force this to work without having the need of having the hp bars over mobs?

Nah, I’ve tested it on the beta - it works fine.

It’s just that, rather than having half a million HP, we have like 30k and do 2.5k DPS. The numbers are far, far more readable, so you don’t need it.

EDIT: I’ve made a little video of the combo. Don’t mind the mac-like Linux (trying some different themes and stuff :stuck_out_tongue: ) and the garbage recording - couldn’t be bothered to switch to Windows and there’s a wonky interaction between XOrg, G-Sync, and OBS. Normally the game runs very well. It’s just meant to get the point across.
