Vanilla wow server please

Can we get a original wow server please with just added raids at 60?

With out these dumb runes and busted abilities.

Ive lost interest in sod completly.

Fresh server… just one will be fine.

There are far too many empty Era realms as it is so they won’t make a new one.

As Dottie said there are plenty Classic Era servers for you to play on. Fresh or not, it will die out soon without the addition of new content hence players flocking to SOD and Cataclysm Classic.

I think that would be a great idea, we need a fresh vanilla server without GDKPs, with little increased XP (maybe 25%) and more harsh measures against RMT and against bots.

The old era servers won’t do it because is no point to compete with someone in naxx gear when you start years later, have no gold or means to catch-up, there’s no point to clear old content and so on. I would love to experience a vanilla as well as TBC without GDKPs and RMT involved.

How soon ? Because I believe it would last longer than SoD did. Do we have any public statistics as to how long every classic server lasted ? or are we just throwing opinions and quote “Trust me bro” as a source ?

I don’t have any statistics to quote, however classic survived for over 20 years in different ways, trough pserver scenes and so on, we got an iteration of classic Cataclysm that’s a continuation based of a classic server - all those things could prove you wrong.

One of the main reasons classic survived for so long in the pserver scene despite the lack of content was fresh starts. (Arguably the game being free was also a factor some claim though full of bugs and many systems not working even close to how they were intended to me disproves this argument and consider it was due to lack of alternatives).

Fresh starts on classic severs every couple of years, or a continuation with expansions such TBC would have a good success rate, minute tweaks here and there, no GDKPs and people would jump in a heartbeat, they would forget about Cataclysm.

Well, seeing as you don’t I’m inclined to believe otherwise.

At the current Classic Era servers when players demanded Blizzard to create them following repeated public outcry they did, and now the servers are more or less dead proving you wrong.

As you’ve also suggested to add new content, basically you replicated what I said in my post: “tweaks or another” to keep the game fresh. That is what Blizzard is doing with SOD. You may not like it, and a lot of players have different views of what Classic+ is but it is a Classic+ variation (that is also somewhat fun).

I did suggest they should do a “Repeat of History realms” aka choose one time period and then restart a faster expansion realm (goes from Classic to Wrath for example and then stop). But it’s up to the devs to see if something like that would work or not.

It may also splinter the playerbase even more. You need people to play with people after all.

RMT and botting already have bans varying and depending on the exact nature of the crime from 14 days up to a permanent ban. There can’t be any “harsh(er) measures” than current.

The servers are now dead because it makes no sense to start playing on said servers while being few years behind others, having less of everything and being forced to skip to the “end-game” gear while passing most of the content.

By “tweaks” I was refering to little XP increase buff (25% or so), not allowing GDKPs, punishing the bots and RMT more severely, things that the latest classic iterations lacked, I was in no way referring to them adding new content.

That is for the players to decide, you cannot force players to stick to a singular game mode and deny them the right to alternate between what they find fun or not, just like you can’t force people to only play one game if they also enjoy other games, from other publishers.

Basically right now you are forced to start liking retail, you either play sod’s version of mini-retail or you play Cataclysm where for many of us retail started with changes such as “Instant Raid Finder”. A smoke and mirrors “option” is for you to play on al old classic realm where players got millions of gold already and where you start playing with unlimited number of handicaps (lack of gold, lack of reputation, lack of access to recipes from content no one clears and list could go on).

If anything I would argue that the lack of options is what shatters and splinters the playerbase most, because people will, in the event of lack of options, rather decide to play other games, from other companies/publishers when faced with a “forced” decisions on them.

We already know that classic had its glory days and that most things “retail” were of proportional failure (at lest in the eyes of many, if not the majority). I understand that they’ve invested lots of time and money into retail, but forcing people to enjoy it won’t do anything but make people hate them more, and ruining the somewhat loyal playerbase.

I’m not one to claim I can see the future, however, the players they’ve managed to bring back based on vanilla’s nostalgia factor that have now migrated to Cataclysm due to lack of content or dislike of the the direction SoD has taken won’t stay active on Cataclysm for long despite how many they’ve managed to funnel from SoD towards Cataclysm and despite how many they will manage to funnel from Cataclysm to retail. It will just hurt the playerbase in the long term for a little boost in numbers for retail, the cost imho is too great for the game’s future. (personal opinion)

But we already know blizzard’s stance on those issues. “You don’t want classic”, “You don’t want harder content”, “You got better options we will force upon you (retail)”.

The thing is it only took about a month for Era realms to get how they are now. Full of GKDP and bots, so that’s about how long it will take a new realm the end up the same. Remember most of the realms are connected and still very close to having a low population, that’s as a group not as individual realms.

Blizzard could Ban GDKP but that still goes on in another form and bots would arrive straight away and stay there as banning bots is not as easy as you seem to think it is. It would not be the Nirvana you think it will be.

You also seem to forget about Hardcore realms.

I know it’s in fashion to hate on paladins and shamans, but do we really have to wish for a game version where they are both useless?

That is partly because many of us started on classic, went trough TBC and then WotlK so we would not play for example both WotlK and Classic. (I believe WotlK was the best expansion numbers wise back in vanilla and the most hype generating one).
Now with WotlK over, many jumped on SoD thinking it would be something else.
Most of people I know that jumped into Cata due to lack of content on SoD already bought few hundred K gold and set-up their characters in minutes, they never got banned for RMT there, in SoD they would not dare doing it, or rather they did dare and they had 2 weeks bans that made them think twice about it.

SoD was a lot more fun to play without GDKPs, having a fresh classic without GDKPs would be something closer to a vanilla experience, as long as RMT punishments are hardly enforced.

I believe we would be kidding ourselves if we’d say Hardcore was meant for everyone and did not only cater to a small portion of player base, mainly to streamers that would benefit from people not willing to suffer when losing all items and would rather watch a stream of others failing, maybe few people with too much free time to care when having to start over and so on. It was not meant to cater for the majority of the classic community/player base.

There are more classes to the game. But I guess a fair answer would be for the same reason people don’t care about warrior being useless in SoD. (those that don’t care to raid)

Classic era is not vanilla. Vanilla lasted 2 years. BWL>AQ>Naxx>TBC. Thats is vanilla. You are comparing a way to “save” our characters with the actual game. You can’t play vanilla right now on Blizzard servers.

Also, new content argument, really? Its 2016 again? So how did Classic WoW succeed, and the many servers before? I dont think 20 years old content was new content. Its been proven multiple times. Many players dont want new content. But good content, released in a fresh way.

Rykkudo mon! Long time no see.

If we had a fresh vanilla server I wouldnt think twice about restarting there.
Sure, I could start on era but who wants to start as a freshie on a pvp server where everyone already has r14 or nax gear and even alts are geared to the teeth?
