Vanish not using correct version

Why is vanish still using legion mechanics for immunity when it didn’t work this way in Vanilla, tbc or wotlk? nice game blizzard

That’s not true.

At a certain point in retail WoW Vanish was changed to explicitly provide a buff for 3 seconds that made stealth unbreakable for any cause (debuffs or damage, either direct or DoT) for the duration, which includes Legion.

Before that, in Vanilla/TBC+, stealth was not unbreakable and would (and does) often break immediately after Vanishing if taking any sort of damage or debuff. What Vanish did and does instead is make you immune to direct spells for an uncertain fraction of a second, probably related to whether Vanish was allocated in the same batch as the spell or not, so if you time it properly you can “dodge” certain effects.

Being able to “Vanish” Death Coil is older than some players.
