Variable rate shading support in shadowlands

We’re probably going to get VRS in shadowlands, which is huge, after seeing some early benchmarks this will drastically increase FPS like 30%.Is this feature only part of DX12 Ultimate or also part of DX12 ? unfortunately dx12 ultimate is supported only by RTX cards.Wow obviously doesnt support dx12 ultimate.

VRS is supported by current Nvidia and Intel GPUs, AMD will have VRS in RDNA2 (Navi 2) cards. The question is - where did they said about VRS?

FPS increase is heavily dependant on usage. Some games that can apply it to larger part of the scene have better gains. It can be hard to push a lot for WoW, especially when you will be CPU limited anyway.

DX Ultimate is a marketing moniker for DX 12_2 level of support - if you support all of the features for given feature level you can say your GPU supports it. You can support only some and still be fine overall.

In one of the interviews they said their team is working on implementing Ray tracing (which can be seen as an option in interface in alpha) but also VRS.I thought VRS is only RTX not 10 series supported.Hope VRS will be a thing in SL,as i said…it looks really good in early benchmarks.

As of now there are inactive raytraced shadow options in alpha. Curious what will end up in the game.

So far they said they were only going to use raytracing shadows.

VRS code is also in the game files on the alpha test.
But this will not affect your FPS in CPU-limited scenarios like raids, only when GPU limited like questing.

VRS quality can also differ enourmously, it looks fine in Wolfenstein 2 The New Colossus, but in Gears Tactics the quality is rather bad and noticeable (more agressive settings there).
