VDH healing exist?

I did recenlty a DH tank and i find my self struggling to self heal in dungeons.
I am 189 with 47500 hp and i know that souls give heal based on dmg taken. But do they? I barely see my hp going up without a healer. Am i doing something wrong? Am i mistaken on healing?

Assuming your DH is Hsenpai, you’re not going to see sudden increases in HP with the build you’re playing. With the hybrid build (like the fiery brand build that I play), you only consume 2 soul fragments at a time, which is a more-or-less constant stream of trickle healing. The only time you’ll see your HP jump up is if you move away with 5 souls out and instantly consume them.

For reference, in most dungeons, I heal myself for about 1.5 to 2 times as much as the healer does.

Yes and no at the same time. The healing exists and it is quite strong. But you have to remember we are the squishiest tank in the whole group. We can’t face tank big group of mobs for long. Kiting is your friend. And we are quite good at it
Try combining damage reduction with healing spells. Here are some examples
1.Spirit bomb + Fiery Brand + Demon Spikes + Cleave
2.Spirit bomb + Fel Devastation + Demon Spikes + Cleave
3.Metamorphosis/Last resort + Demon spikes helps a lot at big pulls.

Try rotating between Fel Devastation and fiery brand. Our healing is really good at bosses. A few times my healer died at m13 and i had to self heal the fight.

Everything is up to managing your healing, kiting and dmg reductions. Yep you must be good at kiting.

I play the F brand as well except the first talent which i pref the mobility+ sigil
Cant consume 5 souls unless if i play with spirit bomb talent.

What I mean is, the talents you had picked when you logged out are a specific build, known as the hybrid build (hybrid control build on Wowhead). It’s a compromise between tankiness and mobility. Like the fiery brand build, which sacrifices some mobility in return for more tankiness, it doesn’t use spirit bomb, so you don’t get that burst of healing from consuming 5 souls.

Um … if you played prot pally through BfA, you’re probably used to micro kiting, where you use the slow from consecration to step out of melee range for a couple of seconds to cover gaps in SOTR. (Not sure if that’s still even needed in SL, but I remember doing it on my prot pally in BfA.)

On DH, you don’t micro kite. When all your mitigation is on CD, or when your health is dropping fast, you get out of there. When I need to kite, I leap away, then RUN, taunting and throwing glaives behind me. If I run out of space, and I still don’t have any mitigation, I leap back over the pack and run the other way. If elysian decree is off CD, I put that in the middle of the pack to help keep aggro while kiting.

It’s a very different style of tanking because, although you have a lot of self-healing, you don’t have the on demand self-healing that pally has.

Thanks for the explain, still pala does that. He can’t tank anymore that much and has to move around as well. Is the new meta sadly.
