While VDHs are on the radar of Blizzard, i have a suggestion.
Meta in its current state is just a bad cooldown because it doesn’t helps much with survibility and feels bad due to this. This thread is to talk about revamp options.
I would revamp it as follows:
“While in Meta, all your soul generating abilities generate the double amount of souls.“
This change would be nice because:
It changes the rotation during meta, which is appealing.
We will get much more healing out during meta. So it will be a real 3 min cooldown.
VDH doesn’t have a Dmg Cooldown yet. With back to back Fracture and Spirit bomb, we could pump Dmg.
Maybe it would be a bit OP, but i think the only 3min cooldown of a tank should be powerful.

But the cd doesnt lessen the buttons to press in the rotation, you just use more spenders.
A tanks rotation is always a mixture between AM and dmging abilities.
It does lessen the buttons because if you wanna maximize DPS/HPS you have to spam Spirit Bomb even if you cap on rage because our spender is absolute garbage. Your changes just make a bad spec even worse.
What I’d do is, first of all, increase the duration to 30 seconds. It doesn’t make any sense that Havoc meta has 30 sec duration and Vengeance only 15 with just 1 extra minute CD difference.
Second, add an extra effect to make it competitive, maybe something similar to Prot warrior Last Stand, which increases your health AND heals you for that amount. Or even increase Parry chance, which makes sense since you become a HUGE SPIKY DEMON.
Although i Think your changes on meta are good, and while looking at warrior popping avatar i only see thunderclap aswell so 2 Buttom rotation is fine for me during meta
I’m far away of being a theorycrafter, but I could also imagine, that we can get 2 viable builds with a slightly different change.
One for raiding with ftd and glutony for more uptime of DS and a second for M+ with fracture and SB enabling big pulls with burst potential.
In this chase the change should be more like adding the following to the current meta: “While in Meta Shear/Fracture generate one more soul.“
Shear and Fracture would be more in line and FtD would benefit from meta and more uptime through glutony. Gultony would still suffer due to the RNG, but would help anyways by lowering the CD of DS.
You also can change the maximum of souls to 6 for smoother generation with fracture during meta.
Anyways, this thread is about Metamorphosis not general Vengeance issues (which there are, and many)
I don’t see why adding an extra effect is worst than transforming it into a 2 button rotation, can someone explain the reasoning? And yeah warriors have 2 button rotation with Avatar (1 button with Bloodlust) but that doesn’t mean it’s good nor justifies doing the same with DH.
