Recently I started playing a little WotLK and I was reminded how engaging the vehicle quests were. You actually had to aim, avoid attacks and use vehicle non damaging functions.
Now the vehicle quests usually consist in: “stay in this vehicle and press this button”, sometimes you might need to aim at something but not often.
Retail is the best version of the WoW engine, but at some point E-Spots won and world stuff got pushed to the side.
I’m pretty sure that vehicle quests is retail can be a lot more fun.
Vehicle quests have always been very unpopular. Your class is your interface to the game. You’ve chosen it because you find it fun.
Placing you in a vehicle that has 2-3 abilities, and making you kill 100 mobs while aiming from above becomes super boring, because you basically cannot lose, and you must do the same thing again and again until you reach that golden number and you’ve done the quest.
WotLK started experimenting with vehicles - added 2 BGs with them, a raid boss in Ulduar, but overall the experiment failed. The next expansions still had such quests, but fewer
Not a fan of vehicle quests myself, mostly becuase they are always so badly put together, buggy and hard to control. I tend to avoid such quests if possible.
i kind of liked some vehicle quests, but some were terrible like the occulus dungeon.
Who knows maybe with dragon riding spreading to other mounts maybe the design of vehicle quests will change as well. Vehicle quests would be less disliked if they arent clunky
I find vehicle quests irritating. Most of the time the controls feel clunky and your new hitbox is totally the wrong size for the vehicle you’re using.
