But not for the reason most think. Yes it sucks that they have so much control they are almost mandatory.
But my issue is, it has made the player base substantially worse. The boosteds that never interrupted or used CC before get a free pass. Try a key without a VDH and see how many spells get missed, or stops not used.
I’m up to 14, pushing 15 as a pug and its horrific.
There are plenty of people that got boosted/carried to title range though. I know 2 people, one that got carried and one that bought a boost.
The guy that bought a boost came into a streamers chat to talk down on the streamer, completely unaware that the streamer knew the people that boosted him.
M+ is content for premade groups, which is why it isn’t queueable. I understand why people pug, but at the same time it is like playing with a handicap. You always play with different people, you have no voice communication, you don’t practice together, you don’t discuss strategies together.
In essence, you choose to play some of the hardest PvE content in the worst possible way, and then you conclude that it is a horrific experience. Why not change how you do things? Make friends, do some social networking, join one of the M+ Discord communities – play the game like a MMO.
You’re doing higher keys than me, and I already can’t imagine straight-up pugging 10s currently. I’d at least want to have two people I can talk to in my group when the content is challenging for me. In a few weeks that’ll be different, when more people out gear the content, but right now it’s hard to tell what you get from pug members.
What ruins M+ for you aren’t VDHs. What ruins M+ for you is that you straight-up pug M+.
Vdh became obscene because of a change that was implemented in season 3, and ignoring S2 for a moment S1 DF was the most balanced and varied m+ season we’d ever had.
It’s just a shame how much things have degenerated since then. S1 wasn’t perfect but it was a huge step up from SL balance and it’s beginning to feel like a fluke.
I agree. It’s allowing a lot of bad habits to go through. All tanks are being pressured to go DH and i don’t care myself cause i know Blizzard will nerf them sooner or later.
But hearing stories from guildies on pugs that the dps don’t interrupt cause “that’s the tank’s job” shows that things are going too far and it’s time for emergency action.
Personal score is irrelevant. M+ is team work and communication.
Don’t try to spin the narrative that people get to 14’s and don’t know how to stop things. The problem comes with overlaps or lack of communication. Having someone do a personal proving ground will change nothing.
I completed about 240 levels of the endless PG’s when they were current. That has zero bearing in how I’ll do in a more dynamic environment.
