I made the possible mistake of not investing into the crafted weapon with embellishment on my Disc Priest and instead went for other items and conquest/token weapons. How important is the embellishment? Does it make a massive difference and should I use conquest points to purchase heraldries to craft the weapon or stick to my initial plan?

Most top disc priests seem to use the energy redistribution beacon on a crafted ring, and not the weapon embellishment at all (source: murlok. io). So good news for you.
Many also use the weapon embellishment instead, but both are perfectly fine options.
Not anymore if I’m right. Beacon works only on direct heals and not Attonment. Most likely they will play something else.
I don’t know personally why they play it, if that’s a recent change then you’re probably right.
