When Versatility was introduced in the game I was and actually still am bit confused. It gives pure damage (da, obviously…)
Does it mean we can actually stack Versatility like a madmans and it will be better than anything else? I’ve already checked it on my Feral Druid and Versatility gives much more damage from my DoT’s than Mastery itself.
It just feels weird, like Mastery and sometimes even Haste will be always below Versatility.
It is totally depending on your class. As a bm hunter there is no merit in stacking 25% versatility as you will lose like 35% crit. As a hunter with high crit I can boost my agility to like 20-22k which is a much higher damage increase than 25% versa.
Same with the balance druid, I can stack haste which will make my cd activate much faster which is a flat 30% damage increase.
On longer fights most class does not need versatility as their base toolkit is much stronger.
The problem is mastery doesn’t boost your every damage, versatility does.
Some abilities only scale with haste, some only with crit and some with mastery and some inbetween. But versatility boosts everything, thus if you have weird abilities that don’t scale with other stats, versatility becomes BiS. Havoc is also like this.
