Very high latency - no way to play any blizzard game

Hello,

From about 2 weeks I’m having huuuge latency in blizzard games. It started one day after 19 season diablo III start - I was playing diablo III without any problem, than i went sleep, when I get up I want to continue playing but problems started - lowest latency was 200, highest about 1,8k - I can’t play diablo III anymore. Yesterday I wanted to play Wow, but situation is similar to diablo III.

I made all test, traceeoute + pathping, WINMTR but I can’t paste them here (“you can’t include links here”), there are some internet adresses inside those tests.

WinMTR:
pastebin .com/ S1w5ey3q

Traceroute + pathping:
pastebin .com/ H4wEzvrz

I updated all drivers, I made all windows update, I upgraded router firmware.

I sent those reports to my ISP, they that everything is fine, the problem might be with my router or firewall but I never had problem such like that…

Any solution guys?

Hey there Belhatrix.

I am sorry to hear that you’ve had these problems.

From the connection tests that you provided they look mostly normal. It might be worth trying to run them again when you are having the really high spikes of latency.

I would also suggest that you take the time to go through the latency troubleshooting steps on our support page.

They will have a detailed step by step guide to try and resolve these kind of issues.

Hey there Arzomaju!

I already went through this guide, didn’t help at all :frowning:

I was also trying to restart gamę… Restart computer… Restart router… Problem didn’t disappear

Heya Belhatrix,

Sorry to hear that you are still having some issues with your latency. I had a look and I can see that on some of tests, there was some delays and packet loss occurring. If you aren’t currently connected with a cable, I’d suggest swapping over to a wired connection.

If you are still experiencing issues, I’d also suggest closing as many background applications as possible as it’s possible that an app is stealing band with. If the issue persists, please upload your system files to pastebin.com and reply with the links to the files using the preformatted text option to encapsulate the links.

I already tried using cable but it doesn’t change anything, WinMTR test are made on WiFi and cable.

I already made those test, WinMTR on WiFi + on cable, Traceroute and Pathping and I pasted it in first post but this forum not allows me to paste links so I made pasted those links with White spaces So they dont highlight like link, So you can check those reports in my first post.

I occasionally used to get random high latency. My ISP is Virgin Media (UK), during the high latency periods I had high packet loss to one node between Home > Blizzard.

Your pathping shows very high packet loss when getting towards a blizz server, the same as me.

If I used a VPN it fixes the issue. If you have a VPN please try playing using that and report back.

If that works then it is likely the ISPs network or some issue in routing between your ISP and blizzards host server.

P.S your MTR shows loss much sooner than the pathping, what broadband service do you have?

When I get back to home in next two hours I Will try use some VPN, I’ve found one yesterday - kill ping.

I’ve got very good and stable internet, I didn’t had any problem until this happend.
Name of ISP is “Winogradzka telewizja kablowa” - I’m from Poland, it is fiber connection up to 500/500mbs.

Hey guys I Just want to say that my ISP support found solution for my problem

Generally he asked me to connect cable with my computer but not using router, do he had to accept my New Mac address. After that I found that my game is not lagging anymore but on MTR test still two first points was loosing packets but not sp hard.
Than we switched to router, again high latency.
He asked me is my WiFi internet profile is marked as public or private, it was public and… It has do much security stuff and level So it was causing a lot of mess in connection, after switching to public everything went normal

So thanks to all for trying to help me!

Hey guys, I’m back with my problem…
Well Generally my problem is not solved, solution helped Just in 50%, It went from unplayable to playable but uncomfortable.

I’m still having problems with loosing packets at first three points. It looks like this:
Pastebin: /rbz4TFap

What I’ve do till now:
-drivers update (network card, graphic card, etc.)
-windows update
-router firmware update
-scanned laptop with malwarebytes
-cleared DNS with tracert prompt
-open all porta for blizzard services
-changed security level of internet connection from public to private (about 2 levels decrase)
-contact with blizzard support (send me to ISP)
-contact with ISP (they helped reduce packet loss by 50%)
-I’m not using any third party apps in background while playing wow, I’ve closed my browser, not using any communication apps, wow has high prior in connection, power management set for performance

Situation look like this:
Few moments without lag, I can cast without delay (fire mage), than few moments with high latency, casting/looting/mounting/people around me with delay, I can See characters around me are starting to “run” in place.
Latency is weird…
Sometimes is normal (without lag stare) :
Home 32
World 32

When it starting to lag:
Home 90
World 360

Other situation with lag:
Home 170
World 360

Anyone have idea how may I try to solve this problem?

Sorry to hear you’re still having connection issues. Looking over the WinMTR you linked, the fact that the packet loss starts right at the first step of the journey - from your PC to your router - suggests that you’re either running on WiFi suffering from heavy interference, a powerline network adapter, or potentially have a bad cable

We always suggest folks use a direct cable from PC to modem, avoiding WiFi and powerline network adapters, since they can result in packet loss like you’re experiencing. If you are already using a cable, check if you have another one lying around, or can perhaps borrow one from a friend, to check if it’s the cable that’s causing the problems

If after all that you still have packet loss, then the only remaining factors would be your PC’s network adapter, or the router itself, being faulty. Trying another port on the router would be worth doing in that case, as would using another wired device that you can run the test from, like a laptop.

Hope that helps narrow it down for you!
