Veteran/champion/hero gear was a mistake

i think it was a mistake to make all gear below 17+ useless in theory. every dungeon u do below 17+ on a fresh char has been waste of time in theory.

not a great feeling.

I’ve found the system good and far better than static item levels. Everyone can upgrade gear instead of it being limited to mythic plus players only.

system is good but there should be ways to upgrade veteran gear to champion and champion to hero. excluding Myth status.

I am quite OK being able to farm 437 on alts and getting a vault with a hero item, potentially 441. 437 is quite good. My alts aren’t there yet

I don’t think a system where you can do the lowest form of content and then just carry those levels up through everything else is a good one. But that’s just me personally. The item ranges should reflect the level of content you are taking part in.

Uhhh…no? Veteran gear is a M0 starting lvl and in general good pick for anyone who doesn’t play high-end content, and champion gear is literally normal raid tier gear. Same thoughts can be applied to ANY gear that is below heroic lvl.

Current gear upgrade system is overall good in terms of what peak ilvl every type of players (casual, semi-hardcore, hardcore) can reach. And upgrading items from one tier to another is absolutely unnecessary cause people aren’t supposed to get heroic/mythic tier gear for free and for no reason while not being in this difficulty tier.

But what if you can upgrade a low item (with some crest/flightstones penalty) to the next difficulty?
I don’t rly understand how the “biggest” contra argument would be that people spend less time. So what lol.

can be locked behind mythic+ rating like last season ? last season you needed X rating to upgrade gear via valor, why should it be a problem now.

Like I said everyone would just be able to do the lowest content and upgrade it all.

However, like I said, that’s just my opinion. I feel it’s healthier for the game that doing the content actually rewards the relevant ranges. Not giving everyone a means to bypass it.

You can feel differently. It’s all just opinions

no they wouldnt if you needed rating to upgrade from veteran>champion>hero.

In this way one can just buy boost/use friends for needed rating once and then continue farming low content, which Bliz wanted to avoid also, afaik. The idea of current progression system was to shift playerbase from mindless faceroll farm of valor towards real progression and encourage players to actually play on their level.

I don’t know why they had to split it into confusing tiers, why not have 1 label/type “veteran” and have it go from 1/8 ilvl whatever it is 370 to 450 and upgrade it with green/blue/pink tokens. Keep it simple for once?

Yeah, imo we didnt even need so many geartypes. Just 1 that starts very low. Make it something like 15 upgrade levels, but you can only go 1-3 with flightstones, 4-6 with type 1 crests, 7-9 with type 2 crests, etc. And the better crests are obtainable in higher content difficulties.

I really like the system as it is.

Sure it can be a little annoying if you end up with a champion BiS trinket and you simply can’t get heroic/mythic track versions to drop, but other than that it’s not really a problem. The character I play most is loaded up and 445 overall. The character I play a bit less is 440. Characters with less playtime have less gear.

I think it’s fine that characters who don’t step above 16s will max out at 437 in deterministic gearing. They can choose to stay there, do chill keys and pick up a piece of myth track gear in the vault each week.

There is - it’s called getting higher tier gear drop. You want to upgrade champion to hero? You do 17’s and get a drop.

It’s called gear progression. You start with bad item, then you get better item, then you get even better item and then you get BiS item. Easy clap.

Rating is bad. Don’t bring it.

If you want to upgrade - put a high cost in the form of crests.

You want to upgrade item to hero? - you will need 5Wyrm and Aspect crests to do so.
You want to upgrade Hero to Myth? Bring another 15 aspect crests to table. Then OK, you actually have to do hard enough content, and for long enough. It should work as a bad luck protection, nothing else. I can imagine having some good trinket capped at 424 can be really frustrating. So people can use farmed up aspect crests to upgrade gear which is stuck at low ilvl.

But as a progression? It should mainly be drop based.

It’s a good system for the majority of players who do content appropriate for their skill level and their character’s ilvl. Even for min-maxxers, the huge overlap in ilvls between champion and hero gear, and the need for wyrm crests to upgrade both, means running keys in the 11 - 15 range is only a waste of time when you have every slot at 437 or higher. Looting a piece of champion gear for a specific slot doesn’t mean you won’t loot a piece of hero gear later on.

Being able to run (enter dungeon name) +2 and then just upgrade the item to 441 as it is now was a bad design. You had people join any +2/3 key they would find at lfg in order to farm the trinket they want. Change was simple, you want a 441 farm 17+.
People need to learn to progress playing keys, they cant have random max ilvl people join their +2 / +3 as we did LAST SEASON to get BONUS VALOR. Season 1 we literally boosted keys non stop farming valor for 3-4 days at +2 once valor cap got removed. In order to get 415 ilvl items.

and that was a good thing, it was nice to have more action in lower keys. atm everything below 17 is dead af. and most people doing it a so bad im questioning if its actually bots im playing with.
