As the name of this post suggests, I’ve long had an idea around this character and just realized that as a Mage they would serve as an ideal Questgiver for simple oneshot adventures that would span the course of 1-2 hours. The mage would probably use their conjuration magics to weave a portal that leads the adventurers to various of underwater adventures!
ICly this would be done through simple contracts, the character has spread posters around Orgrimmar pleading for aid regarding simple scavanger-operations.
OOCly I would have info around the event on my character’s OOC information and would take willing random RPers who approach me to experience short underwater adventures!
Would there be interest in this sort of activity, or is Orgrimmar too empty for content like this?
Honestly, the best way to tell is really just to give it a try – there are far fewer forum-goers than there are people in-game. Orgrimmar might be pretty barren currently, but you will never know until you actually try it and you might get a few biters which in turn incentivizes roleplay – and that’s always good in my book
I think that trying the concept couldn’t hurt, I am very active on two other characters which are both bound to different guilds, so getting that slight bump in RP on playing a character on my own terms and running my own events could cheer me up, and if it cheers someone else up in the process that is all good!
I’ve RP’d in Orgrimmar for a couple of evenings now trying this character concept in general out and keep seeing the same faces, and taken that I haven’t seen any “Quest Giver” characters on Horde side I thought to do this inquiry in case someone else has recently tried something like this.

stood outside Darkshire and just warned people about a dangerous beast in the woods and offering rewards for proof of kill.
It did turn itself into a short adventure a few times.
but it is something you need to work on, for every one person who bites, there will be 10 or more who ignores you.
I RP with a very chaotic schedule and live in Finland (UTC+3), it’s 13 to me when Realm Time is at 12. My evenings are usually reserved either way to one of the two guilds my alts are in, or then to casual roleplaying on Seung (Opposer). Obviously if I wanted to try this quest-giving gig out I would arrange it so that I have time to run a full, short event for people that are interested! Feel free to get in touch!
I was recently involved in a random quilboar hunting quest
some guy on horde is apparently doing a very similar thing to this
he gathers people sets a date and runs a short evening event.
I’ll mention that if you do this, you should probably keep it pretty low on rules, very bare bones such as just emote and roll, no addons needed.
Strangers may come from guilds that use complex roll systems and rules, but they do not carry the same expectation from a random rp event.
plus keeping it pretty vanilia makes it easy to understand and quick to pick up.
Sounds like an amazing idea, saw something before about an american rp’er doing something similar in duskwood on one of their servers, brilliant initiative to bring rp to a spot for both quest giver n quest doer, wish you the best of luck with this!
It was! Sorry for the slow reaction, was waiting to hop online at the same time with you but the last few days have been really busy!
The adventures I had in my mind are really simple and through the expense of a little mana, really straight-forward. Bamfing into a Naga temple to pilfer something that we need, then bamf out. Searching through shipwrecks infested with possibly hostile creatures for lost treasures etc. I don’t plan on them being any more in-depth, outside of offering players with a nice sense of action-adventure coupled with some nice, flexible loot (in the form of gems, gold or thematically appropriate weaponry, but nothing that’ll break other storyarchs the character might have)
As for my weekend plans, I am partly tied with some of my alts to the guilds I RP with, but I am sure we can find a weekend that’ll suit us both! On this note I am free on 5-6th and 12-13th.
I’ll put this character next on my list of characters to level up, so we’ll have a greater chance of bumping online at the same time!
The old quote “If you build it, they will come” comes to mind here. There is far more potential with Orgrimmar than some doompeddling naysayers would like you to think. If people see that there’s something beyond the tried and tired hooplah which, among other factors, turned people away originally then I think there is great opportunity for rp to come organically from this.
Sometimes the best RP comes from people being given bread crumbs and making a whole loaf of fun on their own.
