Video artifacts after alt-tabbing

Hello, I recently bought a new laptop with a nvidia 3050 graphic card and started play wow on it. The game runs perfectly fine but I started noticing an annoying issue. Sometimes shortly after alt-tabbing, some video artifacts pop out and quickly disappear. I did some troubleshooting, like ensuring that all drivers were up to date, and found out the issue diseappears if I switch the game from Directx 12 to 11. This though comes at a little loss of fps, so it would be good to find a fix.

Artifacting like that generally suggests that memory somewhere is unhappy. Unfortunately looking into potential hardware issues is a bit outside the support we can provide, but you could look into stress tests to test various aspects of your system. Something like Unigine Heaven or 3DMark Time Spy would be good for checking the graphics card specifically

Windows also has a pretty good memory diagnostic tool built into it, and while it doesn’t test graphics memory, it’d be worth looking into.

Hope that gives you a good starting point at the very least!

If it happens when alt tabbing its probably driver issue, i know AMD has something similar they are struggling with if never seen it in action.
If it only shows after alt tabbing and not when not alt tabbing i bet its a driver issue possibly related to MPO Multi-plane overlays altho you only find out if you try disabling it first and see if it has an impact it might not help.

Nvidia has had issues with MPO before heck their page is still up with a bandaid that was working for AMD users as well altho for different kind of issues, altho it can sometimes fix some graphic glitches.

its best tho to keep MPO enabled, but it never hurts disabling it to see if it fixes an issue or short term solution until there is a real fix.

Yeah I also doubt is on the hardware side and think it has to do with drivers since:
-Doesn’t happen in other games;
-Only happens when alt-tabbing;
-It’s fixed by switching API or as I found out, turning on V-sync,

I think I’ll just live with it and see if it disappears with a new driver, since it’s just a minor annoyance and it doesn’t seem to be my graphic card dieing.

Do you use anything like fast sync ?

Nope, I checked and it was deactivated. Tried activacting it but still get the artifacts, unlike v-sync.
