Unpopular opinion here:
Sell your AMD GPU, get an Nvidia, enjoy the game
Oh and while your at it, donāt get an Intel 13/14th gen CPU, more problems.

I switched from NVIDIA to AMD because of the flickering shader issues, these may be returning again soon but this time their may be more troubleshooting options, alto i do not think it will help.
I would never get an Intel CPU, i plan to go zen5 and stick on my 7900 XTX until RDNA5
Rather deal with AMD driver issues then the driver issues i have had with NVIDIA that been ignored for years and left unfixed.
Flickering shader issues happen now in more games and even for AMD, its because game devs do not optimize for new hardware and rely on brute forcing performance on modern hardware, while focusing on optimizing game for old hardware that is already obselete or about to go obselete.
is that amdās and nvidiaās problems though? most games run okay with no issues. i think wowās engine is severely outdated in the graphics part. they need a team to sit down and modernize it for the new technologies in graphics cards. wow isnt a visually demanding game. it should run smooth as butter
No. First of all they need to spread more load on different CPU-threads.
The game is basically singlethreaded and thus severly bottlenecked.
There is no point in adding GPU stuff if you are limited by the CPU anyways.
Just look at your FPS in Valdrakken, raids, events etc.
I donāt know how hard it would be to move addon calculations from that one thread to another. That alone would help immensely.
They are literally adding new performance options with the pre-patch. One of them is this:
I think they are adding work graphs as well not sure, but it needs a preview driver to activate not 24.7.1 i think
I guess we will find out in 2 days if it does anything.
My bet, is does not
Also, most options arenāt even new but just a toggle to disable them for lower end hardware or for troubleshooting.
This exists since few expansions at least. The game in DX12 mode is set to use 4 cores and 3 of which will handle GPU draw calls. The toggle they are adding allows disabling this behaviour if needed to troubleshoot a problem. Side note is that they could increase the default config of 4 cores but rendering is rarely a limiting factor on anything other than iGPU and old entry level dGPU.
Well, peeps on Beta reported up to 25 FPS increase with these options added.
I guess we will find out tomorrow if it is placebo or if it actually does improve FPS when CPU-limited like in Valdrakken.
it is expected to increase fps but the issue in this thread is stability. noone cares about 300fps if the game crashes constantly
The preview driver may give more since it supports work graphs since 24.7.1 does not support it yet i think.
Honestly that should not crash your game, it would mostly benefit it with the minimum fps rather, its a shame capping fps does not increase stability, never did for me in the past.
Its made a tiny bit of improvement but still runs bad.
I literally cannot tell any difference and renderscale is still brokenā¦ what have they been doing since season 2?
My fps went up when i set to 100% renderscale with FSR 1.0, when my fps goās down my gpu usage also went down which felt strange not sure what is going on.
Thatās what i said, renderscaleās performance cost is insanely broken.
Also, if you are running at 100% then the upscaling method (like FSR) does nothing obviously
CPU-Limit.
My fps was crazy high at start of expansion and even before pre expansion patch for dragonflight its like reduced by 60% to 70%
Already seen flickering shaders again in a dungeon run never thought i see it on a Radeon GPU as well but its different.
Water in dungeons like RLP was flickering really bad with black textures today.
Instead of fixing old problems they introduce new ones
Went to Valdrakkan and it runs even worse than beforeā¦ I dont get why they dont look at the coding before patch 10.0 and see what happenedā¦
PS: some good news outa thisā¦ My sub runs out in a week and I havnt pre-orderd the new expansionā¦ Carnt complainā¦
Keep in mind that most performance issues during major patch days are caused by outdated addons.
