Thinking about how vikings strongly believed in their gods and had to believe in them in order to succeed. They literally sacrificed their own people in the name of their gods before raiding. And if they lost that faith, they were doomed and they’d lose it all.
Warriors on the other hand follow no such things. I’d say all warriors follow is the battle stage of a viking, the burning rage within, but not so much the viking culture.
Paladins were mainly warriors who were taught the ways of the light
The thing is, vikings depended on their faith for the gods, in battle and life in general, so whilst light is factual in wow, similarly to the paladins, if vikings felt they were abandoned by their gods, they felt powerless
I would 100% go with warrior, they fit the berserker type perfectly and have plenty of sweet mogs for this. Paladins and the light are more reminiscent of Christianity, and I assume when you say Vikings you rightly mean the pagan ones.
And a word of advice, just ignore trolls like the druid, he is clearly not here to provide anything of value, just to tell people not to play the game a certain way that he disapproves of.
Yeah, I suppose you’re right. The appearance of a paladin isn’t really reminiscent of a viking. Just thought some parts of their culture would be similar, whereas I find warriors quite open to lots of different types of RP
tell people not to play the game a certain way that he disapproves of.
I never said anything like that? All I said is that no classes ingame are supposed to resemble vikings in anyway, but if OP really wanted to play as a Viking then Warrior is THE best option for it. I don’t care how other people play the game? If you want to play as a Viking themed character with a transmog that goes for that fantasy, then hell, do it? I myself have atleast 3 viking themed saved outfits on my warrior.
Its the most generic, non-creative MMORPG class ever, a warrior
Sure, if we take all the classes ingame and compare them, then warrior comes out on top for being closest to a Viking
As I said^
One thing I will admit though; is my backhanded comment to OP about “Just finishing Vikings” that was uncalled for by me, but
I don’t like you Zoknikqt, don’t act so high and mighty on the forums, its not the first time you’ve been called out either.
But alright enough about this, typing on mobile while waiting for the wife to finish in the gym shower is both exhausting and cold so to you OP;
I did try to link some of my favorite Viking transmog but Forums would not let me, sorry
Warrior is a generic class.
So unlike Paladins, druids, shamans and so forth they are not tied to a belief system and is instead identified by their strength and skill in combat.
Warriors in warcraft and just like in our world are found in pretty much all cultures.
Their beliefs, equipment and combat styles are different but they are all strong and good fighters.
In warcraft the closest to vikings that you are gonna find are the vrykul since a big part of their inspirations were vikings and norse mythology.
Warriors are the best if you want to be a “viking”.
What your character believe in is up to you and warriors are simply a strong fighter that does not push a belief onto your character.
You decide where that strength comes from.
Were you blessed by the gods and became their avatar?
Were you born with unnatural strength or enhanced by magic?
Were you raised by monstrous creatures and learned to unleash thunderous roars and leap so high that the ground cracks as you slam down on it?
The warrior class let you decide who and what you are.
Alot acctually in Warcraft comes from Norse mythology. Tolkien based alot of his stuff from Norse mythology and Blizzard has used ALOT of inspiration from Tolkien.
You what? Where’d you get that BS idea? You’re probably one of the people who think horned helmets were a thing, am I right?
Vikings were adventurers, no more or less. A viking expedition could be for exploration, trade, raiding or even long-distance fishing. It also frequently served as a rite of passage into adulthood. And when they were not out and about they were farmers, hunters, foresters and just you know, people.
And the Norse paganism itself with the titans and such. The Vrykul are literally Vikings.
But to playable races, the most “viking like” are either Dwarves and Orcs.
Orcs to me resemble the Barbarians Julius Caesar fought against during his conquest.
Dwarves look the type, not to mention the “lost vikings” reference.
Humans could fit the bill, but they’re more inspired by medieval Europe.
And they also sacrificed animals and even humans to the Gods. What is your point. OP isn’t so far off with his description.
