Voice actor appreciation thread

The topic came up in the other thread, but in order to avoid derailing it I figured it’d be better to show our appreciation for the people who bring our favourite characters to life in a thread of its own.

Some of my personal favourites are

  • Alix Wilton Regan as the Female Inquisitor in Dragon Age and Aya in Assassin’s Creed: Origins
  • Kelly Hu as Visas Marr in KOTOR 2 and Cheshire in Young Justice
  • Greg Ellis as Mical in KOTOR 2 and Cullen in Dragon Age
  • and Grey DeLisle as Handmaiden in KOTOR 2, Azula, Li-Ming and Fem Bounty Hunter in SWTOR

Also special mention to Troy Baker and Matt Mercer who together voice like 90% of male protagonist characters of the last decade.

Roger Craig Smith (Ezio) really did a banger job and absolutely nailed it as a younger Batman / Bruce Wayne in Arkham Origins.

Steve Blum as Rytlock Brimstone
Keith Davids as the Arbiter, Admiral Anderson and himself.
Sam Riegel as FF14 A Realm Reborn’s Alphinaud and Braham Eirson
Travis Willingham to have the range to go from Turalyon to Knuckles in nothing flat

Gideon Emery - Lor’themar, Balthier (FF12), Fenris (DA2) and so much more.
Patrick Seitz - Garrosh, Artanis, and so much more.
Liam O’Brien - Illidan, Grimoire Weiss (NieR Gestalt/Replicant), and so much more.
Tara Platt - Emperor Edelgard von Hresvelg (and also Valeera, I guess)

She also did an amazing job as Velvet in Tales of Berseria.

Edit: Oh I’ll shout out to Jim Pirri too - voices Nathanos* in WoW and the Raven Lord in HotS. He’s got a great voice.

*and some other more minor characters, including Aethas

Been wondering for a while what his name was. You recognise his voice every time you hear it but I just couldn’t put a name on it

Anything Jennifer Hale is gold.

Also an amazing VA. His reading of Lor’themar’s poem was an amazing surprise.

Tony Jay who is most known as Frollo from Disney’s Hunchback iof Notre Dame.

But he was also The Elder God in Soul Reaver.

I also think he was Dormammu in the 90s Spider-man animated series. He was certainly in that episode.

There’s quite a few VAs I love, but I’ll stick to one of my favourites from WoW, Michael McConnohie.

He’s done quite a few characters, but four important ones obviously stand out!
Uther, Kel’Thuzad, The Lich King, Deathwing.

There’s no doubt a lot of editing with the latter three, but his voice still brought all four to life for me. :ok_hand:

Some of my favourites are:

  • Billy West (the man is a vocal chameleon)
  • Peter Cullen (the voice of heroism and villany from my childhood)
  • Jim Cummings (I love how he turns up in unexpected places, and his portrayal of Runas the Shamed was fantastic)

Frank Welker, voice of Inspector Gadget’s Doctor Claw, and Krulos, the Rulon leader of Dinoriders. A more evil-sounding voice has never been unleashed upon children’s ears.

Jamieson Price, known in the WoW Universe for voicing Lord Jaraxxus, Baine Bloodhoof and Lord Stormsong, but personally I loved his work for the Dynasty Warriors’ character Lu Bu. Always great work and hopefully they rehired him for SLands.

Rick D. Weisserman - done a truck ton of voices most notable for me Imperious in D3 and Thresh in League of Legends. Threshs VA is beeeeeyutifully sinister

Jennifer Hale from the ME series and in… well, pretty much anything else she’s been in. (Too many to count)

Mark Meer too, not that I thought he made a better Shepard than Hale, but he did also voice the vorcha and the volus from the games, and he’s a pretty swell and fun guy from what I’ve seen of him. Really passionate about all the Shepard memes too. As a side note, he did really up his performance in ME3.

There are many others I really dig, but for the sake of brevity, I’ll leave it on those two.
