Voice actors cringing out?

Sounds fine to me.

And you, dearie, look mighty fine, to me. ear wiggle

But that’s not bad voice acting.

Maybe Character selection is questionable… but then again considering the context and what they were going for, it might even be passable.

There are probably much better examples.

Alexstrasza is probably the best example you can make in Dragonflight. I saw a video a while ago tearing her character a new one (Bellular I think (sorry)).

They really did her dirty this expansion.

Same with Nozdormu.

Where’s my god damn Martin Sheen!?

Oh, I did.

And I love the VA for ‘‘The Curator’’ in Shadowlands, it’s so funny that it’s the same VA that voices ‘‘Philippa Eilhart’’ from The Witcher 3, and it’s such a clash of personality in their way of speech - it’s amazing.

 You have some mental problems or what?

Have you noticed these dramatic pauses in the middle of sentences in dialogues? It’s particularly bad with Alexstrasza.

Nobody talks like that.

I mean, no point in blaming the voice actors - they’re literally doing what they’re told to do.

Be thankful that the Evoker lego doesn’t have an actual voiceline announcement. Rhonin would be proud.

Give a specific example other wise I call it bs :kissing_closed_eyes:

I already gave one, scroll upwards.
Learn to read otherwise I will call YOU bs :kissing_closed_eyes:

Yeah, but you’re posting bs all the time, and complain about nonsense all the time.

The voice actors are doing exactly what they are directed to do in the booth.

Well, there is the pacing issues like excessive pauses but that is probably more a writer/director problem.

I mean, there are places where I think the VA is a bit… unenthusiastic. Tree boss in Algathar Academy springs to mind.

But that’s the director who needs a slap. You don’t accept wooden (hehehe) script readings, you send them back into the booth to have another go, after explaining that the character involved is under high stress and needs to sound like it.

Outside of that, I think the OP is hearing what he wants to hear. Nothing strikes me as delivered as if the VA is embarrassed, just that sometimes the clips are recorded without good context being provided and thus they stand out a bit vs the local environment.

Personal 2p: anti-woke conservative people don’t tend to like the highly imaginative fantasy realms that tend to arrive with a career as a videogame voice actor… people who have a problem with that sort of thing left the scene a while back.

I haven’t enjoyed or cared for the story this expansion;
but I would still like an example of where this happens - so we can know exactly what you mean.

Always try provide samples when criticizing, if possible.

  • Edit addition:
Place this sample in your opener. Edit your post.
I see you provided one later on but it’s extremely easy to miss as most people just read your opener and respond accordingly.

Dude saw some awkwardly delivered line that can happen in game with so much voiced dialogue and decided that it’s how whole expansion voiced.
Pure example of whiners, one bad experience and the whole game sucks

There’s always been questionable voice acting in the game, me and my friend used to mock a lot of voice lines back in the day. It’s definitely not what you’re saying though, usually bad/monotone voice acting is usually the result of a lack of direction from those in charge. Voice actors don’t just do one take and then its good to go you know?

Toddy Whiskers was one of the reasons I straight up turned off the dialogue sound. And don’t even get me started on those dracthyr NPCs, sounding like a bunch of chain-smoking addicts.

This expansion has been a total disaster for me personally, but having to mute all the sounds and skip through cutscenes was the breaking point.
