Voice actors cringing out?

The story & dialogues have not been good in years, but in this expansion I have noticed several times, mainly in world quests, that the voice actors cringe while reading their lines. For example they start pretty loudly, and at some parts they awkwardly say certain words in a low voice because they don’t even know how to say the garbage that is written on the paper and they are pretty much mumbling.

Has anyone else noticed this? When even the voice actors feel awkward reading their lines, maybe that’s a sign that the dialogues should be better :person_shrugging:

Forgive my language, but what the hell are you talking about?

Rologas stuff.

Statements like these really need references…

Is it too much to take a 5 second video and dump it in a dropbox, imgur or youtube?

You seem to be projecting your feelings on something that isnt there.

In today’s extreme political climate, people have got good at spotting political affiliations in people, even with just the tone of voice. Would not shock me at all if voice actors try to bleach this from their own voices and end up clenching on certain spoken words if it would come out sounding political in tone, which is a proffesional thing to do. You know it, I know it, today’s world has created weird things in all industry’s, even in little nuanced things like this, just that, it’s too nuanced for most people to talk about it or bring it up.

So yes, I think we can add rationale to your post.

No I have never heard a single voice actor be unprofessional in WoW or any other game.

Not while doing voice work, for sure, but outside of work? Jeez.

Another same crying wow is bad topic?

Already boring.

News flaps. The voice actor is an actor, they job is to do what ever thing comes to them, and this is why I am never being an actor, if they ask me to kill a person, The Big No. They can do this them self and wind up in Hell and Human Hell also know as the Prison.

I wouldn’t say the voice acting is bad, but recently some of them sound less like epic creatures and more like Joe from the cafeteria.

An example of what I am talking about is at the very start of the xpac when Thaelin says something along the lines of “Oh, I’m game!”

Yeah that dragon lady in black blood elf form that sends you to the dragon isles. Naethea or something similar.

Her annoying voice made me mute my PC.

…What’s wrong with that? Sounds like a typical dwarven response.

Naleidea Rivergleam?

She’s not a black dragon, she’s just a blood elf with dark skin.

I didnt notice it, because I dont pay much attention to DF story since its just cringe to me, but if I should wildly guess, the reason for it would be something like this:
Blizzard started to push all the imaginable and unimaginable minority inclusive characters into the game.
California gets paid to release law about minority characters having to be played by the specific minority actors.
Blizz: Ok, so we created this trans, pans, black mix of dragon and tauren character with 4 speech impediments to make it cute, but who can voice it without facing a twitter screamos?
It appears that the only person, who fits this is a garbage collector Bob from the second floor with no voice acting talents or experience, who wins the tender and here we are!

You might think this is ridiculous, but thats how NA in general works nowadays and thats why the vast majority of NA content is not appreciated, its one flop after another and ppl lean to european or eastern content instead.

One of them who voice acts the NPCs that summons the overgrown ancient comes to mind… The woman, Professor Mystakria. The voice acting for that is really bad.

Haven’t noticed.
But my game has been muted for years so ^^

Excellent an example!!!

I didn’t think that was bad myself but I guess that’s down to personal opinion.

I haven’t got it to hand but the only cut scene that annoyed me was one back in SL where they didn’t manage to animate it well. Sylvanas is giving this big speech and she looks like she’s gurning.

Oh there is definitely some bad voice acting/editing in WoW.

“Have… you… seen… the… maw… walker… speak… now… or… I’ll… bleed… … you… dry”

And pretty much all Sandris Feathermoon in Legion and BFA.

But as for Dragonflight, nothing really stands out as bad voice acting. Certainly some cringe writing such as Rannan, but then that voice acting is quite good, just a god awful character.

I do not like that character at all. However, I agree, I wouldn’t blame the voice actor.
