When casting certain spells, your character will speak the magical words in thier own tongue, This will increase immersion into your character.
Orcs will speak orcish: Okna’ khul!, Jiak liwo drepa lat, May ul spirits jeg lat
Blood elves will speak Thalassian: Bash’a no falor talah, Endala finel endal and Felo’melorn (flamestrike)
and
Night elves will speak Darnassian: Anu’dorini talah, Tor ilisar’thera’nal, Zin-Azshari
I imagine that only certain spells will have this function,
especially spells that take long time to cast, Chaosbolt etc, but i can also imagine instant spells to have sounds aswell like moonfire. Having the sound Qi or something fast.
There may be a cooldown of how often your character speaks to sound less spammy, same as in raids, the sounds of other people casting spells will be a cooldown of how often you hear it.
There will be the option in the menu to turn of this feature, and may be tweakable about how often you whould like to hear it, every spell, every other, 5 seconds cooldown etc.
I got this idea when i was transmoged into a blood elf, and hearing her as she cast spells from time to time caught my attention, and thought it increased immersion.
If you could turn it off like error speech, then sure why not.
I used to play Baldurs Gate a lot, and that had something like you suggest: casters have like three “incantations” they say when casting. It was cool at the start, but got annoying eventually.
There are addons that provide this functionality but it needs to be an occasional thing, otherwise everything else is drowned out by “Expelliarmus!” spam.
like in Baldur’s gate series. i agree would be fun. BUT i imagine in raid such a cacophony.
already we have an explosion continue of colors and lights. with sounds would be like a rammstein concert!
While a neat idea it would get annoying in raids and grouped content especially if you can hear everyone elses caster speaking incantations over each other.
Player characters speaking Pandaren in-game have their words translated into “om” (for <2-letter words) and “nom” (for >2-letter words) to non-pandaren
It would be very annoying in raid fight, but definately cool in PvP where you would hear what is coming at you. On the other hand fake casting would probably sound too annoying. Vocalized spell casting is more single player game.
That would also increase the disk space the game takes a lot. Making it optional to download would be better. I mean most of my characters are goblins, rest are horde, never alliance. So why would gnome voices that I will never use take space on my disk ?
Whoud it realy increase disk size by that much, by only adding sounds? I whould like hear the enemies evocations in pvp, can be helpful, but mostly for immersion on both sides.
Alternativly what you can do is in the options that you can only hear your own character speak the evocations
With lossless compression it would take ~2 GB I think. Making it lossy would take less space. Now come to think of it, that’s really not a big space in todays technology. But still making it optional is better choice.
All Hearthstone cards, heroes and encounters have different sound effects and that game is like 5 GB (maybe less) and it’s nothing for computers. But for mobile, assets are optional if your device has small storage.
