Voice chat service and client freezing

This started with 8.1 if I recall correctly and usually happens right after I’ve zoned or been afk for some time. My client freezes for like 5-15 seconds and usually that’s followed by “lost connection to voice chat service” -> “restored connection to voice chat service”.
I’ve never actuallty used the in-game voice chat and I recall there was an option to turn off the feature completely but nowadays it seems to be active by default and there’s no way to disable it (I’ve just muted it but I want to be able to disable it) Although I’m not 100% sure it’s the voice chat service freezing my client, I suspect so and it’s damn annoying. What can be done about this?

Been having this issue every day, sometimes several times a day since 8.1 launched, suffer a client freeze for 30-60secs and this is followed by the msg Lost connection to the voice chat service. restored connection to the voice chat service. Its very annoying can happen at any time and I for one would love an option to disable the thing completely

Also having this issue and posted a thread on it several days ago and have numerous threads since with absolute zero feedback from Blizzard.

Can we your paying customers have the courtesy of a response that you are looking into this? Right now the game is currently unplayable for me, due to freezing the client and forcing a black screen, resulting in me having to forcefully restart my PC - will we get any compensation for this?

You are a multi million/billion dollar company and your customer service is frankly woeful. Any other large company would have responded by now.

Hello,

I have unfortunately the exact same problem. My game freezes for more than minute then it comes back to normal and i receive two message: “Lost connection voice chat server” and “restored connection to voice chat server”…

The voice chat in game is the problem. Unfortunately we have no option of disabling it.

Ps: all this error problem comes without even joining any in voice channel…

Same issue… happen when people attempt to call me on voice. Then voice server start to go online and offline paired by game freezes and 2-10sec black screens. Happen even when i leave raid because for some reason game still attempting to reconnect.

I “diminished” problem by disabling voice chat by following steps provided by GM
avigate to Control Panel, System and Security, Windows Firewall and Advanced Settings.
Highlight Outbound Rules in the left pane.
Select New Rule in the right pane and select Program from the next box.
Select ‘This program path:’ and select the program you want to block. (World of Warcraft\Utils\WowVoiceProxy.exe). Then click Next.
Select ‘Block the connection’ and then click Next.
Select all network types in the next window and click Next.
Name it something meaningful. I tend to add the name of the program into the title so I can tell at a glance.
Right click your new rule and select Properties.
Click Settings next to Services and select ‘Apply to this service’.
Select the service associated with the program you’re blocking. Not all programs install services so don’t worry if there isn’t a corresponding service. Click OK either way.

That’s it. You have now blocked a program in Windows Firewall. If you want to temporarily allow access for an update, simply right click and disable the rule. Then enable it once the operation is complete.

Yeah that will work, but why on earth should we have to go through all that just to disable something that we don’t use, I say again Blizzard give us the option ingame to totally disable it plz!!

Have the same problem on ru server.

I suffer same problem
Tryed anything so far even contacted GM who was unable to help.

Stuff I tryed and didnt work:
-Clean instaled last verison of all drivers
-Deleted entire wow and redownload
-Deleted WTF / Cached / Interface in WoW
-Swap wow to another drive
-Put parental lock to my own account to try disable voice chat
-Disabled antivirus / tryed to add stuff as exception etc
-Upgraded windows to last recent patch
-Put administrator to all exe files in WoW and battle.net
-Tryed to install old drivers
-Disabled audio in device manager
-Moved wow to another drive
-Played with firewall
-Disabled processes in windows to clear interfeere possibility

Game just freeze 2-5 sec, during that proces battle.net always go into non responding mode, sometimes need to shutdown PC… Bug tend to happen when NPC talking (maybe coincidence) but its always followed with errors related to voice chat !

Blizzard fix it or let us truly disable voice chat.
