Void Elf Demon Hunters?

I did not see anyone discussing this in the forums, but the people are losing their minds in wowtwt.

Recent datamining has uncovered texts, and assets “suggesting” that a group of Void Elves have chosen to become Demon Hunters through their connection to the Void. Unlike the traditional Illidari Demon Hunters who draw power from Fel energy, these Void Elf Demon Hunters appear to harness Void magic as the source of their abilities.

While not officially confirmed yet, these dataminings strongly hint at the possibility of Void Elves adopting the Demon Hunter path, opening up new lore and gameplay possibilities for the class.

That said, this also worries me. I feel like the Nightborne might be sidelined once again. All the elven races except the Nightborne have been included in cosmetic updates to “be” a Dark Ranger, despite the Dark Rangers being very much a Horde fantasy that was not extended to the Nightborne.

If you, Blizzard plan to open Demon Hunter as a class option for Void Elves as an alternative to Blood Elves in the Alliance, PLEASE do not leave out the Nightborne. After all, we have already seen “Demon Hunter” Nightborne in Suramar’s story.

Thank you.

Canonically it makes no sense for Nightborne to be Dark Rangers. The original Dark Rangers were fallen High/Blood Elf Rangers that Sylvanas took with her to Lordaeron. Night Elf Dark Rangers were raised by Sylvanas during the 4th war add mockery of the Night Elves and their culture to the genocide. I’ll grant you the Void Elves, those don’t make sense either, but I suspect that was just a copy/paste job from the Blood Elves’ eye/skin colour anyway. But Nightborne have never been raised into undeath by Sylvanas, there would have been a massive internal backlash if she had, and this would’ve jeopardised her entire war effort. Just because we as players think Dark Rangers are cool, most races would object to some Lich Queen just using their fallen ones as zombie fodder. Cue Lor’themar scolding Sylvanas for quipping about raising Blood Elves into undeath.

Regarding Demon Hunters, it makes no sense for neither Void Elves nor Nightborne to become Illidari. The Legion has been defeated. There is no more need for recruitment drives. I don’t want Void Elf DHs because they feel like another fan service to give the Alliance more Thalassian Elves to play with, and Nightborne make absolutely no sense as DHs at all

That is the thing, according to the datamining there is a group of the Void Elves who are “becoming” Demon Hunters through Void and not fell like other Illidari.

It means DH gets a new spec. End of story
Logic? Reason? Sense? We don’t do that around here!

I know the Entropy spec was a fake leak but a 2h Void DH would be pretty dope.

I have not seen any leaks, only speculations. And the most believable and likely speculation is what Puny has posted - that this is just an NPC ability for an upcoming raid encounter. Outside of Druid forms, Blizzard has never redesigned a class for a different race, and I don’t think they’re going to do that just for Void Elves. Also, the picture you’ve posted doesn’t even show a Void Elf, it’s just any Thalassian Elf wielding void themed weapons. You can’t even see his face. All this confirms is that the next raid will drop void-y warglaives.

Warlock Metamorphosis comeback? O_O

Never ever .

Well then, I reckon you’re suggesting they all should go bet-battling from now on or something.

DHs made themselves a weapon and they still want to be used, that part never changed. The next big thing is the Void, so they’d move over there – why won’t they? Given that their whole shtick was to basically eat their supernatural enemies alive mid-battle, it wouldn’t be so far-fetched to assume that they’d prefer to have some form of fail-safe against voidy souls they plan to consume. Alongside with some ways to better employ these power intakes from said voidy souls.

All of which could rather easily take form of a new purplish spec for DHs. I see no lore problems here: Burning Legion always had void-aligned forces within their ranks and there were always void demons; and Fel Hammer still has a dozen of bored Illidari trainers on board; and there were always void-themed abilities in their arsenal – like, for example, Darkness.

And, with the new boss and new quest line, seems like this new re-accomodation is in the realm of possibility for this universe.

Be great if it were a ranged spec, manifesting void version of their weapon to keep throwing at the enemy like the Draupnir Spear in GoW Ragnarok… :stuck_out_tongue:

Let’s be real if ilidan wasn’t on vacation he would have been like

“The legion finally is no more. Now it’s time for peace my brethren… :dracthyr_uwahh_animated:

Five seconds later he would start to uncomfortably stare at my warlocks void walker

“Yep that’s close enough. Onto the void my brethren!!!”

No need for leaks, there is a questline in the new zone.

A Void elf and a DH make a bargain, DH will teach a void elf the ways of DH in return, she needs to teach him more about Void.

If this is not saying that they are preparing the void elves to become demon hunters I do not know what else will.

People tend to say we can’t get new dh cause illidan is gone but I alway s found that strange.

Like he made a good number of DH do you want to tell me he is the only one who knows how to?
Like he obviously isn’t an integral part in any kind of ritual and his highest ranking DH would probably have done that just like the other non DH members of the ilidari will probably know how to make more.

Just like arthas didn’t actually raise every DK himself. We cann see that in the dk starting zones that just random necromancer raise the recruits.

Yes arthas empowers the dks but that the point where we start as a DK. Before that normal necromancers raise them.

That btw also destroys sylvanas who we need to find a way to make more forsaken thing. You just need a necromancer with knowledge of the higher level raise the dead spell.
Wich our player dks know.

Fel corrupted highmountain demon hunters when?..

Or there will be a third, Void themed, spec for DHs. We simply do not know yet, this is just being outraged for the sake of outrage alone.

Edit:
Also, with the Horde having access to more Druid races and more Shaman races over the Alliance, I don’t think there needs to be 100% parity on the DH front. It’s OK if a faction has less race options for a class than the other.
Adding to this, Shalassian Elves are a niche pick, while Thalassian Elves remain the #1 race in the game by along shot. Giving Shalassian DHs to the Horde very likely wouldn’t be much of a difference, but Thalassian DHs for the Alliance might be a very popular option.

I just started to level a nightborn cause you see them so little

I always disliked eves but the nightborn have something nice to them

Pretty sure metamorphosis model is just Adarus Duskblaze from optional raid encounter.
That is why there is no female model.

Think I read somewhere on wowhead that a void elf infused him with void
(kinda like the naaru that tried to infuse Illidan with light),
but with all the repost on wowhead difficult to find. Maybe I remember wrong,
but kinda makes sense.

“Adarus, now a demon hunter brimming with barely-contained abyssal power, seeks to devour the void energy surrounding Manaforge Omega. His deadly allies, IIyssa Darksorrow and Velaryn Bloodwrath, have joined Adarus in pursuit of larger prey. Together, they will destroy all who oppose them, leaving nothing but chaos in their wake.”

Warglaive he use drop from raid.

Would love to see a 3rd DH spec.
If add dh to void elf do not mind and most likely easy cause so similar to bloodelf.
Thou maybe a bit weird unless they add something to horde at the same time.

Void Elf DHs are most likely going to be a new spec soon. Of all the classes, DH is the one that most likely deserves another spec. I also appreciate how they’re developing this aspect in the lore. Furthermore, more races to play a DH is just an automatic win in my book.

If they give me Nightborne Void DH I think I’ll go back to my first character. I’ll just get over the fact that I won’t be tanking anymore.
