Void Elf Question

Is their racial removing DPS loss from channel type of ability?

[Channeled]: Channeled spells do not have a cast time, and begin immediately. However, their effect is measured out in several “ticks” over the time of the channel, with the first tick usually not occurring for at least a second after the channel begins. Damage taken while channeling will foreshorten the spell, but will not delay its effect like with cast-time spells.

I’m not quite sure what you’re asking. But basically, you don’t lose casting time unless something interrupts you completely; silence, stun, disorient, etc.

Well~ channeling and casting are two types of abilities where both are affected by damage differently. I wonder if both have racial immunity.

Basically channel abilities have damage loss by being shortened when some warrior is pummeling your face.

It’s an immunity for both casting types. VE is an excellent caster race, particularily for warlocks I’d say.

If it affects both then Shadow Priest is good choice as well. Mind Flay will benefit greatly and this spell is a main subject of my question :ok_hand:

Channel spells, say you channel for 3 seconds to do a tick each second… if you get hit that’d become like -0.5 seconds… so now you’re only doing 2 ticks of damage instead with the full cast.

Exactly! Soo… Void Elf racial prevents that DPS loss? Right?

If that’s what it says then yeah I’d imagine so. :stuck_out_tongue:

… I’ve mostly played my VE -rogue-. I’ll log the warlock quick though to test this and confirm that I’m not full of crap and remembering wrong.

EDIT: Tested and confirmed. Complete immunity to casting time loss on both channeling and casting (Drain Life and Shadow Bolt)

Void Elf is perfect fit for casters, after playing a caster Void Elf I’m unable to play with the other races. That immunity is an addiction.

This isn’t really much of a thing anymore but it basically makes you immune to pushback. As a caster, when you’re hit by spells or melee attacks while casting/channeling a spell it add extra time. Let’s say I’m casting a Shadow Bolt, it’s cast time is 2 seconds by default, but if a melee is pummeling me, its cast time is increased to like 2.5 seconds.
