Hello! Is it possible to see Void Elves Demon Hunters in Shadowlands? Technically, since they use blood elves models, it would be easy to implement without the need to work animations or gear.
As for lore, simple I dont care too much (as far as class restrictions concern). There were always people complain for lore, ever since vanilla wow and undead priests…
Umbric was in Quel’Thalas; blood elf demon hunters are Sunfury that followed Illidan. I get that you don’t care for lore but some inconsistencies are too hard even for this Indie company to swallow.
Well I remember a time when speaking about Night Elf mages was a blasphemy but here we are. I would also wonder how void elves priests are able to use light spells as well and I can name a list of so many other lore inconsistencies…
Class design consistency for specs. Holy priest for void elf makes as much sense as shadow priest for lightforged draenei. They can limit what classes you can choose but they can’t (and shouldn’t) black out a specialization.
It’s hypothetically possible, in the sense that Blizzard can do anything it wishes and change the lore to match.
On the basis of current lore, probably not. A demon hunter draws their power from a demon they have consumed and internalised as a part of themselves.
A Void elf has been transformed to some degree by the powers of the void.
Xhul’horac demonstrated in Hellfire Citadel that the void and fel are somewhat incompatible given the explosive results of mixing the two powers. And there is a difference between wielding the fel as a warlock, and being of the fel as a Demon Hunter, or of the void as a Void Elf is.
On a personal note, a Void Elf Demon Hunter (and it’s likely corollary, a Nightborne Demon Hunter) would just be so lazy as a way of expanding the race choice.
Orcs and Humans would be far more interesting additions to the race roster for Demon Hunters.
Perhaps not to the same degree but yes. While It would be pretty cool to see them (maybe resemble voidwalkers more than dreadlords which the n/belves do), it does not seem to be feasible in the current lore. If we can get a good retcon to allow it then by all means yes.
Night Elf mages are the first Azeroth mages (remember Azshara?). Whoever thought it’s wrong back then - doesn’t know anything about lore of this game. Undead priests were lorewise always Shadow, but the devs recently introduced Holy Undead in Legion and I remember them saying that they regret that decision. Void Elves will forever be lorewise Shadow priests. The reason you can go holy priest Void Elf because of the gameplay reasons. Same thing goes with Shadow Lightforged Draenei - they will always be Holy/disc lorewise.
I suppose it would technically be possible if highly unlikely. First of all because the Legion was soundly defeated not too long ago (so there’s no immediate need for more of them). Secondly the void elves already have some trouble with whispers trying to drive them utterly mad, and adding a demonic influence to that can’t be a good idea.
Pretty much this, to be honest, they will restrict certain races being certain Classes, but they can’t really restrict Specs in that way, as to do they would have to add another spec to balance it.
Think on this, take Forsaken for example, Lets say you took the stance that ‘Holy’ Priests make no sense (We know they can wield the Light, but just go with that as a ‘thing’ that they cannot) Given that every other Class makes sense for Forsaken, that they have, how would Blizzard balance it out? They can’t add an extra spec, because that mean adding a spec from a Class which Forsaken cannot play.
So in that example, what, would we be saying that Forsaken cannot be Holy Spec Priests, so they should give Forsaken Paladins, but -only- Retribution Spec?
You can see the problems.
The Specs are a game mechanics thing, not necessarily a Lore thing, so for Example, Anduin is a pretty strong Light Wielder, yeah? I mean he’s famous for it, but he -also- can cast Shadow Magic. Mind Control is Shadow, and we see him use that in MoP, where he mind controls a whole party of people sent to rescue him in a “These are not the Droids you are looking for” kind of way.
Now we’ll leave aside the fact that this is actually a fairly morally repulsive act, forcing your Will on another without their consent, and just skip to “He does it because Priests can”.
there are plenty of combo’s that don’t make sense, Holy Priests for Void Elves, Shadow Priests for Draenei, heck, Lightforged Draenei Death Knights as a whole, but it is game mechanics.
I mean you wouldn’t think of Anduin as a Shadow Priest would you, but he does use the magic of it.
How come Varian respecs from Arms Warrior to Fury Warrior without losing any ‘Rage’ bar (I may be wrong currently, but I think it used to reset your ‘Rage’) every time he splits Shalamayne into two swords?
Its game mechanics.
As to the OP’s specific question, Void Elf Demon Hunters would make no sense. Void Elves are all part of Magister Umbric’s small cult, who were not Sunfury, have never met Illidan, and couldn’t have became a Demon Hunter.
Illidan is ‘missing pretty much presumed dead’ at the Seat of the Pantheon, so he can’t train anyone.
We have no proof whether Kayn or Altruis can train new Demon Hunters, but also consider these things.
A Void Elf -already- has a vastly corruptive, manipulative form of energy in them, do you really think they could handle -also- taking a Demonic soul into themselves? I mean Sargeras did form the Burning Legion to combat the Void, and Illidan the Demon Hunters were made to fight the Burning Legion. Why would a Void Elf Demon Hunter be able to even become a type of creature designed to combat the sort of enemy that was created to combat the sort of energy they are possessed by?
That’s beyond insane, even for someone with Old Gods babbling at them. It gives them no benefit, and ramps up the likelihood they would turn wearing your underpants on your head crazy to about 11/10.
Can you guys stop forcing Blizzard to work on your god damn Allied race and Blood Elfs 24/7 for once stop being so selfish other races needs love too, jesus christ in heaven already.
Now you get blue eyes, and now you’re asking Void Elfs for more classes, what the heck you guys can never be happy, the elven fans? jesus…
People want new classes for Worgens, L-forged Draeneis etc, they almost have none, Nightborne have 3-4 hairstyles and 2 hair colors? stop demanding stuff EVERYTIME after getting something new.
