Void storage as bank tab

Why void storage is not removed and just added to the war bank as 2 tabs? It is quite useless. Charging for putting the item.

Because Void Storage design is for long term stuff, that you don’t take out regularly but didn’t want to keep in the actual bank where you drop your not-junk.

An example: Bound indestructible legendaries.

It may get eventually updated but right now if you have the gold you can get up to 5 super global tabs.

Edit: I guess some legendaries can’t be stuffed into it :eyes:
On a sidenote the warband tabs are bugged so check back again later.

I can’t put the following items:

  • Heart of Azeroth
  • Twinblades of the Deceiver
  • Aldrachi Warblades
  • Warglaive of Azzinoth
  • Personal Tabard

For me it has 0 use

Void storage was originally introduced in MoP to keep in the stuff you wanted to use as transmog, back then transmog worked differently and you could only use appearances of items that you had in bags or bank, there was no appearance unlock.
It’s been outdated and useless since Legion now, don’t know why they never changed it.

Official preview

In patch 4.3, characters of all levels will be able to take advantage of a new technology known as “Void Storage”, which will open up 80 slots of long-term storage space. Void Storage vaults will be available in both Stormwind and Orgrimmar and can be accessed simply by speaking with your local Vaultkeeper.

A variety of items can be placed into Void Storage — including soulbound items and Battle.net Account Bound items — making it the perfect location to store trophies from past conquests, as well as armor you may want to hold onto for Transmogrification. So, if you’ve been looking for a good home for those old tier sets or your vanity holiday items, Void Storage is it! And it’s as easy to use as dragging and dropping.

In return for this unique service, the Ethereals will require a small fee for each item deposited into or withdrawn from their Void Storage apparatus. Multiple items can be added and removed at once, and the cost of each transaction will be displayed at the bottom of the interface, updating dynamically as you select additional items to deposit or withdraw. Once an item is placed into Void Storage, it can remain there indefinitely for no additional cost.

It’s important to note that the goal of Void Storage isn’t to be a second bank, but rather a place where players can safely store items they wish to keep for the life of the game, either for sentimental or aesthetic reasons. Since this particular storage option isn’t really intended for belongings that you’d use a regular basis (like your current set of raiding gear, for example), any item placed in Void Storage will be stripped of all its enhancements, including enchants, gems, sockets, and reforged stats. This will help us reduce the impact such storage can have on the game servers, and ultimately allows us to provide a lot of long-term storage space with minimal impact on everyone’s play experience.

Ok, was introduced in Cata, not MoP. But the use was 99% for the transmogs.

The announcement clearly explains it’s for long term storage of things you want to keep.

You using it for transmog does not mean that was it’s intended purpose or sole purpose.

I’m all for a second reagent tab in my bank but it doesn’t need to come at the expense of another system. That’s fine and can be left alone. I doubt that they will give us any more storage with the new warbank being launched though.

I still think void storage is quite useless. I can put only soulbound items and also Unique soulbound can’t be put.

  • [Condensed Jademist]
  • [Conch Whistle]
  • [Sun Touched Satchel] (bags in general)
  • [Black Ash]
  • [Perfectly-Forged Credentials]
  • [Chipped Demonic Key Stone]
  • [Herbalist’s Spade]
  • [Kyrian Bell]
  • [Ingram’s Puzzle]
  • [Manual of Void-Calling]
  • [Brawler’s Pass]

All these items can’t be put in the void storage. So the whole concept of the void storage is quite useless. Just remove it and add it the character bank.

I doubt anyone would have anything against it.

Meanwhile my Void Bank has around 120 items stored…

As a collector, I have stored some items from questlines that weren’t deleted and that were once-per-character there to remember those questlines. And of course all Legiondaries. And stuff like that “Extinguisher” weapon

I don’t oppose the idea of “opening it up” as proper storage, but calling it useless is absurd; you just haven’t found a use for it yet.

-=EDIT=-
120 on this character. If added on all alts it probably exceeds 200 unique items

I use it to store the bodies of my victims in, mainly gnomes; anything larger and it is a bit of a struggle to squish their bodies into the slots.

Yes for me void storage is useless. Why isn’t it a proper bank tab to begin with?
Why can I put only soulbound items? Unique soulbound, green unique, warbound and a lot of my gray, white, green items without any category can’t be put. That is why I find void storage useless. Just remove the restriction and make it a proper bank tab atleast.

In my 2 posts above I even linked items which are excluded from the void storage. There are even more in my bank.

TL:DR: Because of technical limitation back when it was implemented.

The Void Storage was implemented at a time when the “quota” for the size of a character’s footprint on the game’s database was nearing exhaustion. It was implemented around the same time that Ghostcrawler had informed that they couldn’t create larger bags despite the large demand for it from players because they would run into technical issues.

The “bandaid” solution they came up with was to allocate some of the remaining free space for storage purposes with a caveat: Reduce the amount of information stored. So each item stored would not have information like its transmogrification, its enchant, the flag showing if it’s BoE, BoA or Soulbound (which means that only one type of boundness could be accommodate and they picked the Soulbound option), information about slotted gems etc.; it would only have the itemid (and probably some other data needed for debugging).

Note that this was much before Reagent bank even existed.

At some point around WoD they “fixed” that by extending the maximum footprint of each character and account in their database, and that’s how we got the Reagent bank, the 2nd tab in void storage, ever larger bags for general purposes, the reagent bag, increased number of characters in the account (from 50 to 65 I think?), and now the warbank.

Just because you think its useless doesnt mean it is. Just let it be, mine is full so to me it is of use.

And some players would have to accommodate a lot of stuff that IS in their void storage. I do no understand this mentality that the answer is to take away from others.

No, if there is an argument for more storage in another format, make that, without taking away what is already in use.
