Any other Warlocks having issues with their Voidwalker acting as if they’re in Defensive mode while in assist mode ?
You mean not attacking unless they are attacked? I can’t say i have noticed it but in BfA my voidwalker doesn’t hold aggro, one chaos bolt and the mobs are on me. They tend to aggro everything in an area though even mobs that are neutral. All in all, the voidwalker has changed a lot in this expansion and not in a good way.
What I’m having issues with is the VW attacking whatever attacks me and not sticking to what I’m attacking (ie assisting). it causes problems when killing stuff to farm rep, if the VW one shots the mobs I get no rep from the kill,
It happens with Warlock and Death Knight pets (not sure about Hunter pets, I don’t play Hunter).
If you’re farming reputation via dungeons you shouldn’t use your pet, unless is a Timewalking dungeon.
It’s only recently I’ve noticed this behaviour, up to a few weeks ago if I just stood there and something aggro’s on me, if the VW was on ‘Assist’ it would just wait and watch me die if I didn’t do anything.
This is farming rep in the open world (WoD factions)
I did noticed this behavior months ago, when Darkmoon Faire and Anniversary events were up.
I was farming WOTLK reputations in Pit of Saron, the amount of reputation wasn’t ‘regular’ so I tried to kill mobs with my pet and noticed I couldn’t get any reputation.
I’m not sure if this is intended or a bug.
As for the aggro from Voidwalker, no idea if it got nerf.
The other day I was doing Legion dungeons with a low gear warlock, every time I casted Chaos Bolt my pet couldn’t hold aggro.
Sounds like a generic answer, but have you got any outdated addons on? Because I’ve had similar issues on my hunter before and it’s been due to a dodgy addon.
I have noticed ghoul on my DK alt act weird too. It usually pulls everything it can, even if its across the area where I have not even been to. Often I see it run somewhere really far on the map, while I wonder why i’m stuck in combat.
Not sure, if its the same problem as voidwalker on warlocks, but the pet is doing stuff I dont recall it doing before. 
It’s definitely not an add on issue as I’m allergic to addons and don’t use any.
I need to do some testing and see if my other minions have the same issue and also check out my Hunters pet.
This would be usefull if the VW attacked any critters that aggro on me leaving me in combat, those little pests have a nasty habit of aggroing on you but instead of attacking they go hide somewhere >.<.

Did some experimenting with a Hunter and when in assist mode the pet only attacks what I’m attacking and doesn’t touch anything attacking me. So my VW isn’t playing by the rules
