Votekicked

Doing 99% of a dungeon with no issues, no words spoken, then getting kicked as the last boss is pulled and receiving a 30min cooldown.
Why is this a thing??

Because instead of moving all the boss loot to final boss like keystone dungeon they decided to just punish everyone and make deserter 100 times worse after people abused dungeons kill 1 boss then leave to re queue for specific bosses.

This caused back fillers that where annoyed, these backfillers never see the bosses they needed, so they had to resort to same tactics to get their loot and so the cycle continued.

So instead of moving all the loot to final boss in a chest for the dungeon that would defeat these issues they decided to make deserter worse basically.

Sorry sounding like a broken record now, i blame Blizzard for ignoring all feedback and not seeing bigger issue.

Votekick also did not use to always give deserter, its kind of abused sometimes these days, i personally think in easy content votekick should not even be a thing, perhaps they could limit the amount votekick can be used or just make it not give deserter for being kicked once a day, if you get kicked more often you deserve it most likely unless you very unlucky and keep getting put in same groups that abuse it.

I think he was asking more why they kicked him, more than why he got the deserter debuff. simple answer, every once in a while you just team up some person with attitude problems who kick for no other reason than maybe the dungeon taking 1 minute longer than average

People just push yes when the kick pops up, they don’t watch what the reason is.

Because back in Wrath, some GENIUSES decided that if they did not liked the random dungeon they got in (Oculus most of the time), they would grief their group until they kick them to avoid the deserter for quitting on their own. So Blizzard added deserter to kicks too.

But why edited by a moderator did they make deserter also affect SOLO FOLLOWER dungeons too ?! Did they replace all the good coders with quota hires and nepo-babies?

I can only think of people being in a pre-made and wanting to divvy the loot up by themselves… assuming it would work that way and not get mailed to you.

It doesn’t. 4 players only have 80% chance that they receive a loot at all.

You could litterally just be a bad hunter that non stop ninja pulls, then put in a note bad hunter onto some one else and people will vote yes before even checking if they are indeed kicking the hunter or helping a troll.

same on paladin alt(lvl 69 xp locked) was scholomance noone said anything we were on way to lilian voss

then bam kicked for no reason and 30 mins debuff strange

So you would haved prefered if they bullied you first before they vote you out?

What kind off idiotic statement is that?

Bullying people out of groups to avoid penalties is a very real problem in video games (including wow where folks who lose votes will sometimes afk in protest or indeed kick off in chat).

On the subject of being votekicked - pretty much everyone who has done queued content had had the experience of being votekicked sometimes with no idea why. It’s one of the risks we run when playing with randoms.

The deserter debuff does suck - but it exists to stop people just requiring and doing the exact same thing that got them kicked first time around - and it likely does act as a stronger deterrent that just being kicked.

That said while being kicked occasionally is normal - most of us don’t get kicked very often and if it happens a lot - maybe it’s time to reflect on why multiple different groups seemingly don’t want to play with you what you might do to change that.

This is it.

People are morons, scumbags or sheep. (Often a combo of all 3)

I got kicked from a TW the other day.

Tank ran in, tried to pull the whole dungeon.

Couldn’t hold them.

We all died.

Did exactly the same again.

We all died again.

I said “don’t pull everything at once. A little slower will be quicker than wiping on repeat”

This was all that was said in chat the whole dungeon

Kicked with a 30 min debuff. I just flipped to an alt.

Simply accepting that people are terrible and getting on with your life is the healthiest way forward.

I remember a few weeks back during the WoD Timewalking event I was in a group doing Grimrail Depot on an alt, and right at the final boss I was doing a bit of a safety dance to dodge the AoEs the dragon leaves on the floor for literally less than 3 seconds and, bam: I was teleported back to Ashran with a 30 minute deserter debuff.

Blizz only made the debuff more unfair and worse during TWW when they made it so that you get the debuff from being kicked at any point of a dungeon, instead of making it so that you receive loot after completing the dungeon like people have been recommending for years.

This is why I try and avoid all group content that is not prearranged with friends.

The vote kick system is completely open to abuse and always has been.

It’s also not going to change no matter the feedback you give.
