This needs to be said. They might have a comparable stature, but so do other races.
Pretty much the only thing that was, for some strange reason, used from goblins is idle emotes. But not only are the body models overall quite different, but even stuff like running animation isn’t the same, and standing pose, too.
It’s almost like claiming nightborne are a copy of night elves.
If you want to see for yourself, just go to Wowhead, load any armor piece, and switch between the models, or use MogIt in-game (which makes it even better because it applies one’s skin texture to the other). Make screenshots for direct comparison. They look very different, and I for example would not like the goblin body models for vulpera.
Maybe Blizzard used comparable body stature so that more gear models can be re-used easily.
The MogIt bug is actually interesting because it shows how well you can stretch-and-match a skin texture on another body model and it still looks great, minus the head, of course. For example, if you apply a female vulpera skin to a female draenei, it looks like ‘catwoman’. - This makes me wonder whether the game might use an advanced texturing/modeling method that dynamically interpolates a lot.
I agree they’re not copies but they’re using the base model/skeleton of goblins (and night elves for nightborne, blood elves for voidies) and the similarities are obvious.
Even then, Nightborne and Night elves are more similar than Vulpera and Goblins. As Nightborne and Night elves are both…. Elves, with a shared empire past.
Goblins and Vulpera are completely different species with completely different origins.
I also hate the fact Vulpera are heavily bullied by almost half the playerbase simply for being a talking animal (hello, pandarens, Taurens, worgens, and space goats exist)
And while what happened in argent dawn is bad, it shouldn’t qualify towards all Vulpera players. Period. Because the people who took part in that horrible event are a minority. Why should all Vulpera be punished?
Sorry for the rant, but I said what I said. Vulpera are the most interesting race on the horde, along with Trolls. Lol.
My villain origin story right there… Everybody told me to be nice and turn the other cheek. But Nha… That wasn’t helping at all. I return fire with fire.
Repay maliciousness with Malice.
All i wanted was to make them fit the Horde theme and all. I got rejected everywhere left right and center.
I think the Vulpera are what we make of it. And if people (Roleplayers) Don’t want it to be taken over by questionable people. More players should do the same.
At least one of good benefit of having no lore and race concept is at least this.
You know your a vulpera who survives where trolls are sent to die. And thats it really…
The floor is yours, take the lore and warcraft you know and adapt it to your Vulpera character.
Vulpera actually use a modified model/skeleton based on the goblin one. The situation is the same with Zandalari, who’s model was a modification of the Night Elf skeleton I think.
This is basically a meme that came around because during their developement Vulpera were using a lot of the animations from goblins, which by the time they became a playable race were changed. There are only a few animations they do share with them now.
Nightborne actually had it worse, as even if their animations are different from Night Elves I would say the differences aren’t visible enough for one to differentiate the two. Nightborne only had their running animation different from Night Elf when they were released.
In the end the hate is aimed at them because they are another “cute” race given to the Horde. Blood elves went through something similar when they were introduced I heard, it is nothing new.
unfortunately in allot of cases… almost true. Not gonna sugar coat it. Allot of vulpera do draw in this sort of stuff and revere in it If more of you where present however…
It wouldn’t just be okey and expected cause ‘‘Vulpera’’ They would have more people to compare them self too. And roleplay to look up too. that wasn’t all stero typical ‘‘lewd’’ stuff.
All of my yes. I be mainin’ troll and vulpera, mon.
Also, while Horde got vulpera, Alliance got mecha gnomes, and that ‘technocratic cringe’ keep affirming why I am drawn to the Horde. I like almost all races’ style there and almost none on Alliance side, and the various model remakes made it even worse.
It is really sighworthy how Alliance not only got the blood elf model now, but even a skin type that makes them look not voidy at all. (Although, I guess we could be lenient and accept that as a response to the long calls for a high elf look.)
But this idea that Alliance should get all ‘cutes’ and Horde all ‘uglies’ is cringy, too. It’s so superficial-stereotypical.
That’s pretty much it. Well, that and the fact that people give those trolling attempts actual attention.
Buut yes the base is similar enough not my problem though, i love both goblins and vulpera for their own reasons, as well as the other such races.
