Yes, I know I’m kinda late for the party, it’s August 5th, I just came back for phase 4 since phase 3 and found out I had to choose between Void Plague/Dispersion now.
It does look like a massive huge nerf to me, for both pvp/pve (mostly pvp, let’s be honest).
To be fair this instantly killed all my excitement to play my one and only SOD character.
What do you SP players think about this change and do you manage to play like that now ? Just curious since I barely started exploring this new phase.
EDIT: a few general questions: how is phase 4 going btw ? Is there many people playing/enjoying it right now ? How is the Crusader Strike server population ?
cheers !

If you are willing to quit because of a PvP nerf then you are not the target audience of SoD in the first place. They stated clearly before launch that PvP would not be the focus and they would not really dedicate resources to balance it
Hey, hold on, I don’t recall saying I was quitting.
I’ve only said this change killed my excitement and I was curious to have others SP players opinion about it, maybe a couple of advices will help me adjust my gameplay and enjoy my class.

OK my bad for misinterpreting it. So many people are threatening to quit over minor issues it’s become annoying

Good? Shadow Priest is ridiculously strong in PvP.
Any chance to elaborate ? Are you a SP player ?
Shadow Priest has no counters. It can 1v1 almost any class. the nerfs are warranted
it is indeed a nerf, but a warranted one imo.
as a healer i could contest enemy dps in pvp with void plague, shadow word pain and the undead racial dot and then just stand around healing myself until they died from dots.
as shadow i just flat out had a pala bubble that gives mana which is only borderline acceptable in paladin’s case cus its a melee class.
was a bit much tbh.
I think it is a great change. Twisted faith/dispersion is the way to go and building up mindspike is way more interesting gameplay than SWP + void plague + shadow word kek + dispersion.
Besides, the real pvp spec for priests is tri spec anyway. Go heal/dispel your teammates.
hey dont be dissin the dot playstyle.
there’s a special place in my heart for affliction warlock and sod priest (shadow or otherwise).
just get dispel my guy.
Too bad that ironically enough affliction warlock dots do the LEAST amount of damage of almost all dots in the game. Heck even moonfire dot is stronger lol. Affliction requires alot of setup to start doing even remotely comparable damage to a shadow priest. This is quite sad really, that a DoT oriented class and spec does the least DoT damage in the game.

^ That is honestly the reason why, where I usually main a lock, now stopped playing it since p2~ and became a priest instead.
Shadowbolt volley is the coolest rune in the game, why play anything else than destro
While I agree that it’s probably one of most satisfying things out there especially with nightfall procs, but alas, too situational, and outright unusable in pvp pretty much like the whole destro spec unfortunately. In PvE though it is amazing.
