Walking backwards in dungeon?

Halfway through Halls of Atonement I lost control of my character who started walking backwards for about 30 sec and then I missed a gate opening… was it a debuff or a keyboard issue? It was right before Echelon…

EDIT: Happened again while questing in Bastion, so maybe not a debuff, either a keyboard issue or a bug…

I’ve seen a bug (very rarely) where my camera swaps 180 degrees and I’m looking at my face and when I move I’m moving towards the camera. I have to relog to fix it.

It could be the mouse, mine is definitely getting old…

The camera was fine, I just couldn’t stop moving backwards no matter what I did, only Esc stopped it but only until I resumed playing.

Yup. I got on some key combinations auto walk on which i can not disable in the game anymore. Can’t fix it somehow. Also have not found the combination yet that triggers it. But fast alt tab twice…

…auto walking backwards?

In my situation just forwards.

As it turned out, it was not the mouse because I switched devices but happened again (in the Maw). It happens when I’m pressing a lot of keys so now I think it must be some unexpected key combination.

It may be related to the fact that the key to move backwards (down arrow) it’s a weird key on my keyboard, labeled 00 and I think without a regular scan code.

By the way, Alt-Tab works to stop the motion (I couldn’t move forward for a little while but at least I wasn’t moving backwards anymore)

Is it possibly a Windows shortcut activating when accidentally catching a key combo ?

I used to have a problem where my keybinds would suddenly stop working, stressful during instances if that happened and I couldn’t even type a chat comment properly to explain why I wasn’t able to fight properly. (only mouse clicking spells worked :disappointed:)

I have a non standard set up (for arthritic hands) plus a fancy keyboard which used to mess up my sound and volume until I found the interferring sound keys and disabled them).

Keep a notepad ready and when it happens switch to it immediately.
If it’s an arrow key you can also switch to a website and see if you start scrolling down. Then it’s clearly the key that is broken.

Take one of the other buttons and replace it with the arrow down key and see if you still walk backwards or if the other key suddenly triggers instead. Then it is your key cap that is broken.

Might be a decalibrated gamepad that is still connected.

I do have a graphic tablet connected, and it’s on the same USB hub as the keyboard and mouse… I’ll try to move them to different ports instead.
