This has probably been answered time, and time, and time again, yet I want to ask.
How do RP realms do with War-mode? Does the majority have it on or off? Or is there a stable community for each?
Is doing RP with WPvP an unthinkable thing or is it the optimal idea?

Generally, we keep it Off, but we Flag for PvP, War Mode has too many off realmers which basically ruins it for everyone. Just flag for PvP Then its fine, and fairly balanced. If they start messing with that too, then people will just stop flagging, and all the PvP fans will kick their heels and wail, but no one will care. They broke the toy. No new Toy.

I will just point out that Warmode can have a Non-PvP use for RP. Actually two of them though they come at price of possibly getting ganked. Though chances of being ganked in low-level zones are fairly small.

  1. It allows you to have different instance of world , one guild uses A-spot for their event? Not a problem anymore.

  2. Added visuals from PvP spells.

I believe it’s generally accepted in Alliance RP that as soon as you leave Stormwind (IC), you turn it off, even if you have it on for OOC doing content.

For Horde RP I’m not as experienced in the matter, and thus will defer to Brigante here.
But as Sahoeanna says, WM can also be used to just instance your eevent. Been there, done that.
But that does bring the risk of there being an occasional few jerks who decide it’d be great fun heroic leaping into a group of people with RP gear on.

To add to the bit about warmode use: I’ve heard people used it to make Goldshire a proper village without all the ERP, so that for sure is an option!

I just came here, wondering exactly that. I´m new to RP, and really wasn´t sure, if it is best to keep it off or not; which chance I have in running into active RP, depending on Warmode is on or off.

In Stormwind it makes absolutely no difference weather or not you are in Warmode as all players are placed in same instance regardless. However in general finding RP out in the open world with Warmode on is next to impossible.

Bored Horde gankers can kill you in warmode, though.

You can kill them though and then they rage nicely on their Ally chars

What if you’re on a low level character/wear RP gear of some sort?
