War Within - Epic Edition Early Access

Then it’s almost like it didn’t need to be there in the first place.

And refunds aren’t that hard :woman_shrugging:

To be honest, they made the deal so that they can’t back out of it without facing pretty big class action lawsuit should they modify it or remove it (they made it core point of selling the product).

“Well, um, sweetie you can’t ‘win’ wow so there is no pay to win.

People really don’t understand why this is a problem, ugh

Yet it was.
Just accept it. Or don’t and refuse to buy their product.

Just because you think it’s a problem, doesn’t mean someone else does.
People have different mindsets, goals, cares etc.

Except it wasn’t really early access, it was basically just the launch date. Everyone who pre-ordered, regardless of how much you spent, got early access. Even those that bought the game during that period got to play straight away.

Very worrying signs here. Not only the early access but also the “Wow players are going to start getting more content sooner” comment makes me think we are going to have to shell out for a new expansion each year going forward?
If you think about it, on the old cycle Blizz just gave away 6 years of Wow Blizz Con announcements which I doubt they would do so I guess more games to purchase more often on top of the sub.
I also note the top dollar expansion got a video, makes the other 2 look like a poor relation which isn’t great.

On the flip side, I actually think the people who don’t but the premium pack will have the better experience when leveling (I think it will be crazy popular sadly). I also wonder if the premium pack will release in line with the rest which would mean early access on Wednesday at Midnight and then regular release on Saturday at midnight as actually this may be better for a lot of players.

On the expansion itself, cinematic looks awesome as always, zones look lovely but follow the now familiar and boring template of 5 zones per expansion and it is too early on the rest to commit for me personally.

I like this. Because server lags too hard on day 1 anyway. Will get epic version soon. Mount look ugly for a new expan. At least you get 100% in beta and its totaly worth for me

And yet you can’t seem to accept that this thread has a different mindset than yours?
Forums are for player feedback. That includes the negative.

Just because you don’t think it’s a problem, doesn’t mean everyone else should just stop talking about it.

I’m not really sure what your goal is, here? Defend Blizz? Argue? Try and convince every unhappy person that there’s nothing to complain about?

People are rightfully upset.

It was the same thing in D4, it’s a smart move businesswise as again, look at D4.

Threads don’t have a mindset. Players do.
And there’s varying opinions posted in this thread.

I’m not saying you should stop talking about it.
I’m saying that your opinion isn’t ‘universal fact’. That’s all.

Having both sides of the issue being fairly represented.
And optimally facts being accepted as the truth and not opinions.

That’s your opinion, and that’s fine.
I don’t think they are rightfully upset. I think they’re making a problem out of nothing.

3 DAYS AHEAD!?

The humanity!

Think of the children!

I think you’re making a mountain out of a mini anthill. Like seriously, get some perspective.

If it wasn’t really early access, they shouldn’t have called it “early access”. I agree it’s not exactly the same thing, and one could argue that Blizzard’s version is more exclusive, but Square’s was still an attempt to secure more pre-orders by allowing those users to access the game early and by handing them a 30% exp bonus.
In any case, I expect honest criticism to go against both companies, or against none.

On these forums?! :kissing_heart:

I can’t say i am too happy about it either. 3 days is a lot and will allow early players to get control of the market. It will also allow early gearing ahead of everyone else and getting a jump start on reputation tracks. This will be required for competitive players.
It doesn’t seem fair.

for the rich and streamers, this will be fine.

for the cheap gamers, server lag will hit for sure.

its only “a lot” if you are like streamer who will play for 14 hours a day or plan to take a week off work .

“normal” people will barely level up to max level and finish questlines in all zones to unlock WQ when they open on launch night on like 1 char

I did say competitive players. Casual players won’t care, but the prices will be jacked up on the AH so they will feel the effects. So, it’s not without pains either.
Regardless they will be behind their guild mates.
Wich is the other issue as it will fracture guilds into early acess and not early acess groups and if you don’t cough the dough you can’t play with your friends. It’s pretty bad.

Several people think it doesn’t matter to the gameplay. And you are right, it will probably matter very little or not at all. 2 weeks later you will be in the same place, no matter when you started leveling.

However. The launch is an event. If you haven’t been online at any other expansion launch you have missed out a bit because it is “a moment”. The whole server is in the same place, people are lagging, some are being annoying with big mounts, the chat is flying by with people complaining about the mounts, you’re discussing with guildies if it will be a smooth launch or not, there is anticipation in the air… it’s been a thing to be part of, regardless of if you end up going to bed 30 mins later or if you stay up all night. Everyone in the whole world is going into the new content at once!

Early access makes that anticipation be there only for the people going early. And that group will be significantly smaller, not the whole server. The people going late will have had everything from the expansion already shoved in their face in the 3 days they are waiting to play. They will know which zone is best, which cinematic was cool, which dungeon will suck on mythic+, etc; so there’s not really the same anymore. If you WANT to be part of “the launch”, the early access is really the only way to go.

In the past we could all be part of it. Now we have to pay extra, and it won’t even be as grand because more than half the server will probably not have paid the extra so they won’t be there.

It’s a small thing, an experience that only lasts one evening. But I always really liked that evening, so I will miss that. Even if 2 weeks later it doesn’t matter anymore.

Personally I don’t want to act like it’s the end of the world, the difference in price won’t make me starve or anything, and I feel like if 40€ have such an impact on your finances, you have way bigger problems than World of Warcraft.
But it’s still an anti-user policy. They’re asking money for something that has always been taken for granted, and top of it they’re creating a divide between class-A and class-B players. I’m probably going to buy the epic edition, because I would’ve done it anyway and I don’t want to give up on the launch day experience, but I already know I’ll hate feeling the advantage compared to my friends with the base edition. They’re still spending 50€, for some other games that’s full price, and it’s not enough to play on day one? We’re not talking bonuses here, people will pay as much as 70€ and still have to wait three days before playing.
It’s not the end of the world, but neither is a shovel to the teeth. This change is in poor taste, it’s not sending a good message and it’s entirely unnecessary.

I dont care about professions, leveling and those advantages.

I only care about the social impact. Especialy amongst the friends group.
