War Within - Epic Edition Early Access

There’s a difference in opinions and presenting something as facts like a leveling surge which barely has been a thing and in modern days and even it was, can easily be solved.

This is just cash cow by Blizzard. That is an opinion you can disagree with. What’s not, is that this is only the beginning of more and more TX (not even gonna say MTX) that is coming for WoW and the industry as whole.

If 3 days isn’t a big deal, then why even offer it in the first place? People are saying deal with it, its only 3 days, but there’s obviously an appeal or they wouldn’t be offering it at all.

There’s a huge difference between early access in a single player game, or even a game like diablo, and wow. Wow’s entire premise hinges on people playing together, and now they’re separating those players into two tiers. It doesn’t matter that there’s not much advantage to be had (even though there is some), its the separation that feels bad.

If they wanted, they could have handed out early access to some pre-orders randomly rather than attaching it only to the epic edition, or given it to people who got a certain achievement in wow.

Obviously it’s a cash crab and it makes sense from a business perspective. I guess I just wasn’t expecting how much support this would garner.

Need to look at making a game myself!

I think everyone is making presumptions here or have I missed a post/article where they have said 3 days allows levelling and levelling professions ?

The 3 days early access will most likely be the same as when DF launched and the lizards got to do some stuff in their zone only or something to that effect.

How is this going to affect the WoW economy? I always make a few million gold from gathering early on but if all the Auction House goblins get 3 days to farm mountains of mats I think it will have a very negative impact on the casual player who only buys the base edition.

I think they want to split the amount of players running in all at once. It will be better for the servers, and there will be less problems picking up limited quest items or targetting quest mobs.

At the moment I’m just casual crafting.

At the start of the expansion I was Cancel/Relisting Enchants and made a few Gold caps in the space of a week. Then settled into selling Armour Crafts to players on my server.

If you have abit of capital, Enchanting is always a good at the start of an expansion, because the Epic Materials is in short supply and therefore expensive. So the faster you get maxed out in it, the bigger the profit at the start.

We’ll see how season 3 goes. But I’m not planning on focusing on gold making.

They are true and legit.
Your opinion being different doesn’t change that.

Yours doesn’t either.

True.

Both can be true and legit.
That’s the thing about opinions.

If you like laggy servers, overcrowded zones and hubs… That’s your prerogative.
I don’t.

We simply disagree. Nothing wrong with that.

So… let’s go over the prices and categories.

  • 1st tier Base Edition 50 euro
Contains: The War Within / Dragonflight / 70 char boost
    Trader’s Tender: 500

  • 2nd tier Heroic Edition 50 euro
Contains: The War Within / Dragonflight / 70 char boost
    Trader’s Tender: 550

+ 20 euro for:
Trader’s Tender: 250
Algarian Stormrider with customizations + mog set

  • 3rd tier Epic Edition 50 euro
Contains: The War Within / Dragonflight / 70 char boost
    Trader’s Tender: 500

+ 20 euro for:
Trader’s Tender: 500
Algarian Stormrider with customizations + mog set

+ 20 euro for:
Beta Access
3 day early access
30 days of gametime
Squally pet
Gryphon yoy
Deepstone hearthstone effect

But wait… it has 30 days of gametime, so we deduce 13 euro, meaning the highest is 7 euro more, which you pay to get: 3 days EA, Beta access???, a pet, toy and hs effect?
FOR 7 EURO??

You must not know math to not notice the value of the purchases.

Yeah; compared to the other editions (especially the heroic one), the epic is far better value for what you pay vs what you get.

tbh, people should raise their eyebrows on the Trader’s Tender currency thing. might not look important now, but it´s something to raise two eyebrows on.

It’s far less of an issue than making these small packs of ugly things with tender attached to it. Imo anyway.

But then again; I really don’t care if they would start selling tender in the store.
It’s just cosmetics. If you don’t want to pay for them; don’t. Pretty simple.

They have sharding, shared tagging, etc. now to make this a non issue - this hasn’t been a problem for ages, i played the past two expansions on launch night without issue. On the other hand, Diablo 4’s official release had a tonne of troubles even with their early access.

I bet they are kicking themselves now, spending all that time implementing those features for everyone when they could have locked them behind a ‘premium plus’ pack to give you login queue priority etc. and players would have been queuing to swipe their cards for it.

It’s money plain and simple. I think people who are for it, like being able to throw down some extra cash and feel special, and concoct some reasoning to make them feel better about it.

Neutral people will say, why complain its only 3 days, just don’t buy it. This is the laziest argument ever - yes its a trivial thing to be annoyed about but that doesn’t mean people shouldn’t complain. Next time your boss makes you work an extra shift unpaid overtime, just say its fine, I should just get another job elsewhere.

You’re completely missing the point of the divide being done at the expense of the players’ finances, and that those who can’t justify the extra cost can’t experience the launch with those who can. If Blizzard wanted to do something about the launch bottle neck issues they could’ve gone back to time zone releases, and players wouldn’t be responsible to fix anything with their wallet. People who downplay this choice come off as edgy Blizzard simps. It’s an extra charge to play a subscription game you bought at its launch. That’s it.

You get to be one of the cool people. :kissing_heart:

If 20 euro is an issue for you, you should stop playing a subscription based MMORPG.
Does that suck for those people? Yes. But…

WoW is not a charity. WoW is not a necessity.
WoW is a luxury product.
